    Clean facility, unsafe and neglectful

I placed my loved one at Woodside and had a mixed but mostly negative experience. The building is clean, centrally located with good meals, nice activity spaces and some excellent, caring therapists and aides - but safety and basic care were repeatedly lacking: broken/locked call lights, ignored calls, patients left soiled, mold in bathrooms, a fall with injuries, roommate theft and even police involvement. Night staff were uncaring, staff seemed rushed with high turnover, nursing leadership and the social worker were unresponsive, and we faced unethical billing disputes and collection-agency threats. I moved them out to assisted living - I can't recommend Woodside unless you're fortunate to get consistently attentive staff.

    About Woodside Lutheran Home

Woodside Lutheran Home sits on an 18-acre park-like campus in Ashwaubenon, Green Bay, and has served older adults for more than 50 years, offering skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, respite, rehabilitation, and independent senior living apartments under its nonprofit, faith-based mission. The place welcomes people aged 55 and older, and for those needing help with daily tasks, there's round-the-clock nursing care, supervised assistance with transferring, bathing, dressing, medication management, and different types of rooms, including private suites, deluxe rooms, and semi-private options, along with cable TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, kitchenettes, and private bathrooms. Residents get homemade, chef-prepared meals, including all-day dining, and special diets for diabetes or allergies, created by a registered dietitian, as well as spacious dining rooms that bring in lots of sunlight; and there's community support for getting to appointments, parking, and laundry, plus on-site beauty and barber services. The home accepts both Medicaid and Medicare, and has staff available to help with insurance and billing questions, which makes things a bit easier for families, and the apartments at Woodside Haven run on income-based rent for folks 62 and older, while Woodside Oaks offers senior living for those 55 and up. Woodside Lutheran Home keeps residents active with fitness rooms, therapy gyms, walking paths, stand-up gardens, a library, bright lounges, and lots of programs including daily activities, outdoor gatherings, arts, music, movie nights, Bible study, spiritual support, and wellness services, plus an Alzheimer's Support Group for family caregivers run by a nurse named Becky Rankin. Skilled nursing staff are trained to help with short-term rehab and long-term illness after hospital stays, offering care for joint replacements, Parkinson's, fractures, neurological challenges, diabetes, wound care, and more, with therapy happening every day of the week if ordered by a doctor. The campus runs a strong pastoral care program, holding worship in a chapel led by a full-time Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pastor, and keeps a Christian environment, but everyone gets care and respect no matter their background. There's scheduled transportation, and people can get out for appointments or family events if they let staff know, which some places don't always allow, and pets like Miss Ivy the rescue dog visit for pet therapy, which brightens up the days for many who live here. Woodside Manor I, II, and III give assisted living options, and Woodside Villa I and II provide secure memory care for those living with dementia, with staff trained to meet the unique needs of these residents, while the connection between all parts of the campus means people can move smoothly through levels of care without having to relocate far-all supported by a team including the Executive Director of Campus Living, Assisted Living Admissions Coordinator, and various nurses and therapy staff. There's a strong focus on comfort and keeping residents busy, with activities like gardening, happy hours, bingo, music, crafts, and fitness; plus family and friends can do laundry if wanted, and folks can bring their own furniture into the apartments if that's what they prefer. While there's not much on the website right now due to an access issue, the home's long tradition of nonprofit, church-related service, and wide range of programs and care, all on a big, green campus, set it apart for older adults and families looking for a place with support and some flexibility.
