    Modern, clean facility but expensive

I toured the new assisted-living and memory-care buildings and liked the large, welcoming entrance and brand-new, modern units (studios-2BR). My room felt clean, fresh and comfortable, the kitchen and nutrition area look brand-new, and common spaces include a nice library and TV room. Staff were very good and attentive; activities are active (movies, bingo, cards, social programs) and they provide transportation to church. It's neat, up-to-date - but about $2,000/month more than other options.

    About The Willows (CBRF)

The Willows (CBRF) sits at 515 W Iola St and offers both assisted living services and specialized care for behavioral health needs in a quiet, rural, wooded area that gives some peaceful views, and you'll see that the newer spaces built in 2018 really help keep things comfortable and accessible. Inside, there are 24 units, a mix of semi-private and one-bedroom apartments, along with an 8-unit secured memory care wing for those facing Alzheimer's or other memory loss conditions, which includes two hospice suites as well. You'll find bedrooms have private bathrooms and the whole building has a simple design with clear connections between assisted living and memory care wings using open lobby spaces, so nobody feels shut away, and everything flows naturally for everyone.

The Willows is a licensed Community-Based Residential Facility, sometimes you hear it called a CBRF, and it's also recognized for behavioral rehabilitation, which covers not only help with medication, bathing, dressing, and transfers, but also tailored activities, supportive counseling, and restorative exercises based on what each person needs. They've got licensed nurses and dementia-trained staff on-site all day and all night, so supervision is always there, and there's a wireless call system too, for quick help when someone needs it. Residents get three home-cooked meals each day, and snacks are always available, with the dining room set up restaurant-style to fit all sorts of dietary needs, including if someone needs a diabetes or allergy-friendly diet.

Folks who stay here can use a lot of services, like laundry and housekeeping, and can join art classes, movie nights, and group trips into the community. There's a well-stocked small library, a beauty salon, a spa, gardens with walking paths, and an enclosed courtyard that looks out over a pond if someone likes to relax outside or just watch the birds. The community room is pretty big and gets used for social events, arts, and even for celebrating birthdays and holidays. There's also a chapel with regular religious services and partnerships with local churches and other organizations, which helps everyone keep ties to the town and to their own families and beliefs.

People at The Willows get extra help with personal care like bathing and grooming, can expect staff to manage their medicines and treatments under supervision, and get health status updates sent to their doctors when needed, while respite care is offered for families needing a break. They don't take residents who need IVs, feeding tubes, or have brittle diabetes, but do support those living with strokes, Parkinson's, Huntington's, Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS), and people in hospice. There's always scheduled activities each day, both those run by staff and others that residents set up themselves, so life keeps some rhythm and purpose. The Willows wants to help folks stay connected to friends, families, and the local area for as long as possible, offering long-term and short-term care options all in one place.
