Al's CBRF, also known as The Maher Home and part of Brighter Life Living, LLC, is a small, community-based group home for up to four seniors that provides different levels of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing care, and the place is set up to help people stay as independent as possible while also staying safe because they've got 24-hour supervision and staff who help with things like bathing, dressing, toileting, getting around, and making sure medicines are taken the right way, and even though the setting can sometimes be a renovated house or a new building, folks get their own fully furnished rooms with telephone access, cable or satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and emergency alert systems, so families know they're looked after. Staff can give three hours of skilled nursing every week, and sometimes longer if there's a special need, and the facility accepts people who are ambulatory, semiambulatory, or nonambulatory, including residents with dementia or Alzheimer's, since the home offers specialty dementia care with secured areas, memory-enhancing activities, and extra supervision. Transportation for medical appointments is arranged, and short-term respite stays are available, so caregivers can get a break if needed.
