Fair View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center sits at 1050 Division St. in Mauston, Wisconsin, and belongs to the Mile Bluff Medical Center, where a steady team of experienced healthcare professionals and nurses look after folks around the clock, so there's always someone ready to help whether you need skilled nursing care, urgent care, or even hospice, and you can count on short-term rehabilitation stays and long-term care if that's what you require. The facility operates as a non-profit and carries an A-minus rating for long-term care quality and an A in nurse quality as of October 2023, and you can tell they've put effort into keeping a calm, well-kept environment with tidy outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy some fresh air or sit with visitors. There are 60 beds in their hospital-based skilled nursing setup, and they offer different room choices like private rooms, L-shaped double rooms, double rooms with shared bathrooms, all with televisions and phone access, so residents can get a bit of privacy or company, whichever they like. Special programs are in place for Alzheimer's and dementia care, and the whole center's tailored to make folks comfortable, but also to provide practical help like 24-hour emergency care, rehabilitation therapies, wound care, telephones, and even hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis services right there in the building. They take both Medicare and Medicaid, and if someone needs speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory support, or even help with nutrition or audiology, that's all available on-site, and families can breathe easier knowing there are recreational and activity programs going on every week to keep minds and spirits engaged. There's a resident council so folks have a say in daily life, plus transportation services when residents need to get out for appointments. This place accepts people with different medical needs, including those who want memory care, need help after surgery, or families who just need a short break with respite care. Staff focus on compassion and safety, embracing new technology to deliver care that suits each person, and they even help plan for when it's time for a resident to return home. The center stays committed to community engagement, quality of life, and professional standards, offering a reliable option in the Mauston area for people needing a little more help as the years go by. The average rating sits at about 3.5 out of 8 reviews, which some might see as fair, and the facility keeps an up-to-date website where families can find more information if they need it.

Compassionate caregivers but understaffed, costly
I placed my Great Uncle John Griffin Sr. here long-term and I'm grateful the staff showed genuine care - they made him comfortable daily and eased our fears; the private dining room, salon and birdwatching cage were bright spots. However, the facility often felt understaffed and rushed: staff could be rude, slow to respond, miscommunicated, misplaced belongings, and bathroom assistance had long delays; it also has a hospital smell, limited/repetitive meals, shared rooms, and few activities. Upkeep and planned remodeling/rehab are positives and service has improved slightly, but it's expensive for the quality and I worry profit is prioritized over residents' quality of life. I cautiously recommend it because of the compassionate caregivers, but more staff and meaningful activities are urgently needed.
