    Top choice caring homey community

I toured eight facilities and this was my top pick. Beth in management and the caring, friendly staff made me feel my loved one would be safe, respected, and well cared for - residents looked happy, the place was clean, smelled great, and had a warm, homey feel. It's a small assisted/memory-care community with no vacancies right now, but I would highly recommend it.

    About Autumn Oakes

Autumn Oakes is a memory care community in Oak Creek, WI, that focuses on people with Alzheimer's, dementia, and mild cognitive impairments, and the staff is there day and night to help with whatever residents need, whether that's dressing, taking medicine, getting around with lifts if needed, or just having someone to talk to, and they've got private rooms for just eight residents so it's quieter and feels more like home. The staff has a good amount of training with residents who might forget things, feel anxious, get confused, or have trouble sleeping, and they've got routines to help everyone stay safe and feel settled. There are meals made three times a day by chefs or meal planners, and there are special foods if needed. Activities are planned every day to keep folks busy and connected, ranging from movies and games to outdoor walks in the gardens or pathways, and the place allows residents to bring a cat or dog if that's what makes them feel comfortable. Laundry and housekeeping get done for everyone, so keeping up with chores is taken care of, and there are emergency alert systems in place for safety. Transportation is available if someone wants to get to appointments or an event, though there may be a cost for that, and they make sure to take people to various planned outings or offsite activities. Residents who need diabetic care or have bowel or bladder incontinence can be cared for here as long as they're able to help manage it, and they can get services from nurses, doctors, physical therapists, or even podiatrists who visit. The staff honors everyone's choices as much as possible and try to make a personalized plan for care, with the idea being that as people need more help, they can get it without moving somewhere else. They've got technology like robots to help with services and meal experiences, and sometimes offer devotional and spiritual activities right on site. Autumn Oakes offers hospice care for those who need it, respite stays if someone only needs a short visit, and has both independent and assisted living services. Security is important and the whole building is wheelchair accessible, phones are in the rooms, and rooms are already furnished to help people settle in easily. It's a peaceful, smaller community with a focus on keeping things as home-like and comforting as possible, and the professional staff does their best to make things run smoothly day to day.
