    Compassionate staff, older wing flaws

I toured this older facility and my first impression was very positive - the tour guide was lovely. The caregivers, nurses and hospice staff were compassionate and professional (truly angels), going above and beyond with exceptional care and amazing food. Be aware rooms in the older wing have community bathrooms in the hall, there's ongoing construction and newer rooms will have private baths; activities felt unorganized despite a large activity room.

    About Arbor Village

Arbor Village sits in a quiet, pretty neighborhood in Peshtigo, WI, tucked near parks, schools, and shops, making it easy for visitors to come and go, which a lot of folks appreciate, and it's the kind of place where things all spread out on one floor, so there are no stairs for anyone to fuss over, and the building is fully wheelchair accessible, with good wide hallways and rooms designed to be easy for folks to use, whether they walk or wheel about. The facility is a Community-Based Residential Facility, or CBRF, and it's set up to help people aged 60 and over with varying needs, including those who need a little daily help, those living with memory loss, and even folks needing hospice care at life's end, with about 50 beds available, so it doesn't feel too crowded but there are enough people for friendly company. The care staff are around 24 hours a day, and there's always a registered nurse on call, which families like knowing, and everyone seems to mention how the staff are helpful and kind, from aides to the administrator, Chuck Kafura, and they've even picked up awards for friendliness and good activities. Each room has a private ADA bathroom with a walk-in shower, and in-room cable TV, and you can join the gentle exercise groups, arts and crafts, music activities, Bible study-even enjoy the courtyard or common rooms where people gather to visit or play games. Folks can get their hair done right on site in the beauty and barber shop, and there are massage and aromatherapy services, which many residents look forward to. The call light system means help is always just a push away, and the secured entrance keeps everyone safe, which is important when memory or confusion becomes an issue, and the Memory Care unit tries to make things calm and less confusing, especially for those afraid of wandering off. Meals get cooked by chefs who really care about nutrition and taste, and there's always a variety of options, including guest meals so family can dine together, and the menus get planned around balance. The staff help manage medication, personal care, and special needs, too, including care for people who can't walk much, incontinence, and diabetes. Arbor Village runs activities on site, like music, crafts, and small fitness classes, and sometimes they go offsite for shopping or appointments using the facility's transportation. The place has wireless internet, so residents can stay in touch with family. Residents can choose independent living if they want a simpler, social life without too much responsibility, and there's support for privacy and independence, so folks don't feel hovered over. People say the staff work hard at giving personalized care, which comes out in service plans that fit each person, and aides also visit seniors living at home for companionship and help, so even those not living inside the main building are supported. Arbor Village feels calm and settled, focused on quality, compassion, and making sure everyone, no matter their needs, has the chance to stay connected and live as fully as possible.
