    Friendly staff clean management problems

I found the staff friendly and the building clean and well-maintained, with spacious, wheelchair-friendly apartments, on-site dining (Kerry's Kitchen), helpful amenities (community room, woodshop, library, beauty/barber, bus to stores) and a very convenient shopping/public-transit location. Programs and entertainment are good when running, but some residents said activities have dwindled and pandemic changes reduced offerings. My main concerns are inconsistent management, favoritism, manager unavailability and safety issues (dogs/smokers in halls, repeated fire-alarm evacuations), so I'd recommend a thorough tour and asking pointed questions before deciding.

    About The Landmark

The Landmark is a senior apartment community for people aged 62 or better, where you'll see everything laid out in a straightforward way because it's meant to help folks stay comfortable and active as they age. This place has one- and two-bedroom apartments, some with one bathroom, some with two, and the homes come in different spacious floor plans, with things like a dishwasher, linen closet, fireplace, washer and dryer connections, balcony or patio, and extra storage if you need it. The building was put up in 1997, and you'll see pet-friendly rules, which is nice if you have a close animal companion, and each unit gets assigned parking, plus there's an option for heated underground parking if you want it for those tougher winters. You'll notice everything is pretty accessible, with features to help folks who use wheelchairs or just want to avoid stairs, and security is built from the ground up, with both internet security services and 24-hour emergency communication systems available to help keep residents safe, along with smoke-free, cable-ready homes.

The Landmark cares for different needs, offering independent living for active, mostly healthy seniors, as well as assisted living, memory care for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, home care with trained aides, and residential care homes that are smaller places for those who need more help. Staff use unique names and terms for their programs and service options, so you might see things referred to in their own way, but you can always ask what those mean. You get services like their general store for everyday necessities, a barber or beauty salon, fitness center, car wash space, a billiards room, computer area, and crafting studio, plus regular social and recreational programs to keep folks busy if they want to be. Internet service is available nearby, making it easier to keep in touch with family or just relax online.

Landmark kitchens serve meals made from quality ingredients that are meant to taste good and support your health, so folks don't have to worry about cooking every meal. Another thing that stands out is their support for veterans and their spouses, with help for those eligible for VA Aid and Attendance benefits to cover long-term care costs. The community keeps everything low-pressure, with no enrollment or endowment fees, so you won't need to worry about giant upfront costs just to join. They run an apartment locating service too, which can help you or your family figure out which floor plan fits best, and you'll find flexible living options, whether you need a bit of help each day or you're mostly independent. All in all, the Landmark tries to make life easier and offers care in a way that adapts to each person's needs without making a fuss about being perfect.
