      Knowledgeable staff inconsistent night support

I found the admins very knowledgeable and caregivers well trained in ADLs; the facility is clean, safe, and provides nutritious meals and regular activities, so I felt my sister was in good hands. However, Oceanside Rest Home’s night assistance was lacking, the head nurse wasn’t always available, and residents were often left to their own entertainment with little organized socialization beyond meals — some were uncomfortable with certain assistants. Communication was inconsistent and at times unprofessional; I often couldn’t reach the facility when my sister became ill. That said, the head nurse and Sierra were accommodating and staff generally understood our situation.

      About Oceanside Rest Home #2

Oceanside Rest Home #2 sits on 15 Shasta Court in Oceanside, California, where you'll find a comfortable small home meant for up to six residents, and folks like the home-like setting since it's quieter but there's still care and watchful eyes around the clock, with licensed nurses, support staff, and an emergency system in case anything goes wrong, which does happen sometimes with seniors, especially folks with memory loss or mobility problems, so staff help with two-person transfers, non-ambulatory care, and moving folks who can't get around so well, plus there's specialized services for dementia and Alzheimer's, and rooms have wheelchair-accessible showers, easy-to-reach call systems, views of photos and the outdoors, and all the basics for daily comfort, though of course care is always on hand for bathing, dressing, grooming, medication, and getting to medical appointments, and transportation's there for errands, religious outings, and doctor trips when needed, and some seniors stay just for respite after an illness or during a family break, and some even come for hospice or short-term support.

Meals here are cooked fresh in the house kitchen, three times a day, and staff offers vegetarian meals, diabetic choices, and other changes if a doctor says, while snacks are always around, and friends say the food's nutritious, and kitchen staff watches for special diets, especially with diabetes or high blood pressure, and there's a focus on helping people with incontinence, high medical needs, and non-ambulatory issues, while everyone gets help as needed with daily activities, including hygiene, moving around, and sometimes even getting out of bed.

The social and recreation schedule is steady, from book rooms and music therapy to craft sessions, movie nights, and group games, so nobody sits alone all day, and if you're into animals, they've got a pet therapy plan, which brings a few animal visitors in, and a mobile hairdresser comes by for haircuts or styling, so you still feel put together, and there's a garden and outdoor space for fresh air, or for those times you just need to sit quietly and listen to the birds, and when it's faith you want, regular Christian services happen on-site.

For keeping folks safe, there are security systems and locked areas for those who wander or get confused, which is important for memory care needs, and the staff are trained to watch for falls or things like wet floors and clutter that cause trouble, which they try to stay ahead of, given how common falls and injuries are in care homes, and they know about the legal parts if an accident happens, since nobody wants to see anyone hurt, especially with hip fractures, head bumps, or other issues that sometimes land folks in the hospital.

Transportation and parking are available for both residents and visitors, and small pets, like cats or dogs, are welcome in the right circumstances, which helps some people feel more at home, and there's always an effort to match programs and activities to every person's lifestyle and needs, whether that means exercise for active folks or help with memory games for those with cognitive decline.

Oceanside Rest Home #2 offers residential care, assisted living, respite, memory support, adult day programs, and hospice, all in a relaxed house where staff do their best to help residents stay as active and social as possible, and with Oceanside's sunny neighborhoods, shopping, medical care, and parks close by, folks have the chance to enjoy a bit of the outside world too, though the house itself is meant to feel safe, secure, and like home for whoever stays.
