Amenities include a library, walking paths, gardens, a barber and beauty shop, as well as a therapy gym for rehabilitation, plus movie nights, outings with wheelchair-accessible vans, animal therapy visits, and resident-run activities. Meals come from a dining room with restaurant-style service and a head chef who changes up the menu from time to time. The home employs over 100 staff, both full and part time, and everyone works together to support the physical and emotional needs of the residents, while aiming to give them dignity and respect, and the place has connections to six Maine Veterans' Homes around the state, each focused on caring for those who served. With a mix of private comfort, health services, and a strong sense of community, Maine Veterans' Home tries to give veterans and their families peace of mind and support, whether they're staying for rehabilitation, memory care, or longer term help.
