      Lovely home with safety concerns

I placed my loved one here because it's a beautiful, family-owned home with lower fees, personalized attention, owners who arrange grooming, and overall outstanding, flexible care that gave me peace of mind. That said, I've noticed unprofessional staff, poor communication (phones often unanswered), cleanliness issues and urine odor, tiny/unsafe bathrooms, and residents sometimes left in bed all day. I'm grateful for the care and hope they fix safety and communication as they expand.

      About Caring Outreach for Seniors

Caring Outreach for Seniors operates as a licensed assisted living home located in Fort Washington, MD, and you'll see right away it's a small community with just five licensed beds, which means things tend to feel calm and personal most days, and folks know one another by face and name even after only a short while; the home holds a state license number A1611, and the director personally handles management assessments, so changes to care plans tend to get extra attention, and every new resident gets a tour before moving in if they like. There's no community fee when you come in, and the basic care begins at $2,200 a month depending on how much help is needed, with payment options like check, credit card, or even insurance, so families can choose what works best. The staff and programs put a real focus on outreach and support services for seniors, and some of the programs and names for services are unique to this place, like special grant programs and a continued effort to help with both full-time and respite care for folks who may just need a short stay.

The staff offers assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing, helps with medication reminders or medication administration, and see to proper pharmacy reviews and nursing assessments, so health needs get steady attention, and they're set up for care of seniors who have incontinence, diabetes, higher care needs, or who can't walk as well. Meals and snacks always come with a focus on nutrition, and the place offers vegetarian, kosher, diabetic, and low-salt meal options, along with choices for people who need renal diets, so there's usually something to fit a person's needs, and residents can have either private or semi-private rooms, which helps people feel more settled depending on how much privacy they want or need. Amenities inside the home include cable or satellite TV in the common rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi in the private spaces, and bathtub access, while shared spaces like a fenced yard and a deck let folks spend time outside safely. The rooms don't allow pets, so those with animals may need to make other plans, but you'll notice they're tidy, with routine housekeeping, laundry, and linen services that help everyone keep up without fuss.

Activities are available for residents with options such as arts and crafts, music time, tabletop games, and even some horticultural projects for seniors who like to keep busy or want to try something new, and the staff includes personal care assistants who are around to help. Financially, the organization manages programs, grantmaking, and various funding sources with transparency, with their financials and Form 990s available, which families who like to see where money goes might appreciate. The home's focus stays squarely on keeping seniors safe and comfortable, and the building is clean and well-kept, which can make a big difference over the long run, especially for family members who visit.

Overall, Caring Outreach for Seniors gives a small, close-knit kind of care that some seniors and their families might prefer, with features and services aimed at senior needs, and while the home doesn't allow pets, the steady attention, mixed meal options, and honest approach to care can help some older folks feel at ease.
