    About Caldwell Home

Caldwell Home is a small Victorian-family residential care home that's been in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, since 1895, with more than 67 years of experience providing compassionate care-it's at 10 Prospect St and can take care of about ten seniors at a time, so everyone gets personal attention and it never feels crowded or rushed. This home has private rooms, some with fireplaces, and each room can be furnished by the resident's own things or with the home's furnishings, and many rooms have windows looking over Prospect Street or Fitchburg, making it bright and comfortable, and it's all wheelchair accessible with chair lifts for the stairs. The whole place feels more like someone's home than a hospital, with a wrap-around deck, game room, and cozy spaces to sit and talk. The owners, Alice Jercha, RN, B.S.N., and Marlaine Young, have created a family home setting where residents can have home-cooked meals, served in a family-style dining room, with weekly menus that consider what folks like to eat and what reminds them of home; these meals fall under the CACFP food program and a dietician helps with nutritional planning, and there's always someone to help at mealtime if needed.

Caldwell Home offers assisted living, memory care, and full nursing home care, including support for Alzheimer's, dementia, wound care, and hospice or respite care for people who need a place short-term or longer. There's a nurse on staff 24 hours, so medication, wound care, bathing, dressing, toileting, laundry, and all personal needs get taken care of any time, and there's never an extra charge for extra help, which is rare these days. The staff handles medication, keeps up with electronic records, and offers help with daily activities like grooming, getting dressed, and moving around, including walking and wheelchair help so people don't have to worry about falling. Medical services reach beyond nursing to podiatry and occupational therapy right at the home, and the staff uses remote patient monitoring and offers electronic visit verification to keep families in the loop, and these services work with long-term care insurance.

There are regular social and religious activities, arts and crafts, and education programs, plus family engagement so loved ones stay involved in care, and the activities room, fitness center, dining room, salon/barbershop, and even cable TV and free Wi-Fi make it comfortable and keep people busy if they want to be. Transportation gets people out to appointments or shopping, and there's guest parking for visitors. Caldwell Home also has kitchens and kitchenettes for residents wanting to make their own snacks or drinks and washers and dryers available for personal laundry. Safety's important here too, with handicap features, sprinkler systems, and security on the wrap-around patio where folks can enjoy the outdoors. The home, known locally for being small, unique, and truly personal, offers plenty of services like home care, care management, My Adult Behavior, My Senior Care Hub, My Adult Home Care, and My Adult Foster Care, all designed to fit individual needs. Caldwell Home doesn't take pets. With a dedicated, caring staff and private, comfortable rooms, Caldwell Home provides a safe and supportive place for seniors who aren't safe at home alone and need that extra attention, along with nutritious food, meaningful activities, and a homey space that doesn't feel like a big institution.
