    About Veterans Homestead

Veterans Homestead began in 1993 as an independent nonprofit organization and covers six unique facilities spread throughout New England and Puerto Rico, mainly based in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and it dedicates itself to helping veterans of all wars, with a mission to provide affordable housing, case management, education, medical and psychological care, and it's set up to give veterans a way to lead lives with dignity through community and respect, and has care and programs not found anywhere else-like the hospice program for homeless soldiers who have terminal illnesses, and a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility built on a working organic farm. The community, which is family-friendly, offers activities, room amenities, meals, and a full range of health care services, and it's also recognized as one of the greenest facilities in Massachusetts. At Veterans Homestead, staff give specialized support for elderly, disabled, and terminally ill veterans, along with those who need guidance reintegrating into civilian life, and they have housing, therapy, and counseling services on site, plus partnerships like the one with Mount Wachusett Community College so veterans and their spouses can continue their education. Residents have access to care types such as assisted living, independent living, dementia care, and memory care, and there's respite care, hospice, transportation, and case management for individual needs, all in a residential care home setting, and with a focus on support for veterans' unique needs, staff there offer expert advice, connect residents with local services, and make sure it's always about building a safe, comfortable community. Veterans Homestead runs as a nonprofit, keeps up with state requirements for safety and senior care, and remains dedicated to veterans' well-being through personalized programs, referrals, and access to VA benefits like Aid and Attendance.
