      Caring staff but poor communication

I felt my mom was well cared for - wonderful, sweet caregivers and 24-hour staff who kept her comfortable and peaceful in her last days. The small, clean (old, converted carport) home is safe, meals are acceptable, and staff fix issues quickly, but activities are limited. Communication was poor and disorganized - abrupt interactions and excessive follow-up calls - so I'm unsure it's the right fit for everyone despite the caring team and helpful placement assistance.

      About Serenity Adult Family Home

Serenity Adult Family Home sits in the Northwest Everett neighborhood in Everett, Washington, right in the 98201 zip code, and has just 6 senior apartments and living units, so everything feels pretty calm and laid back and people tend to get to know each other, which really helps folks who don't love crowds, and still want some community close by where they live, and these rooms come in studio, single bedroom, and shared setups, most of them having useful details like grab bars, non-slip flooring, and ADA-compliant bathrooms that make moving around a little safer, plus wheelchair accessible showers and big studio spaces if someone wants more room. This home has a board and care license, Washington license # 752287, and provides both senior living and assisted living services, along with memory care, skilled nursing, adult family home care, and even respite or short-term stays, with staff and nurses on-call 24/7, an on-call registered nurse, and monthly visits from a licensed physician; folks who stay here can get help with bathing, dressing, incontinence care, spoon feeding, diabetes care, moving around, or just getting in and out of bed. Staff get special training in dementia and Alzheimer's care, so the place often sees people with higher care needs including trouble moving around or high acuity health issues, and everyone gets a care plan designed for their individual needs, including medicine management and administration by nurse-delegated staff, and there are regular wellness checks and fall prevention programs too.

This place has a warm and homelike feel, and there's an extra bit of privacy since it's a small group home, but people don't miss out on things to do, because there's a full calendar of on-site and off-site activities, like arts and crafts, card games, bingo, scheduled group outings, and lots of daily social gatherings in shared spaces like the library, the games room, theater room, exercise area, decks, patios, and both indoor and outdoor common rooms. People can enjoy nutritious meals in the community dining area with vegetarian and low-sodium options, plus snacks between meals, and on-site catering for holidays and special occasions if needed, and there's free transportation to appointments and group trips, plus guest and resident parking. Utilities come included in the rent, except for phones, and the place has its own laundry and housekeeping staff; maintenance, home upkeep, and apartment security are all provided too, so folks don't have to worry much about chores.

Services include help with personal hygiene, meal prep, housework, companionship, and foot or hearing care, along with visits for dental care, plus there's a beautician on-site for hair and grooming, even barbershop and salon services, and special help with things like daily fitness, wellness, and devotional services for those who want some spiritual activities, including Christian services. The whole place is set up to let folks keep their independence for as long as possible, with safe apartment designs, lots of handrails, grab bars, and non-slip floors, plus fall prevention efforts and support for those with low mobility, and there are decks and porches with beautifully manicured walking paths for some fresh air whenever the weather allows it. There's supervision or help with medications, plus reminders and health screenings, as well as outreach services for families, support for visitors or family members who need to stay for a short while, and special concierge and personal request services for small extra needs. Serenity Adult Family Home keeps things simple, safe, and welcoming for seniors who need a bit of help, especially those looking for a calm place with good people around, privacy, and a peaceful pace, more like a home than a big building, and where the staff's always described as very sweet and caring.
