    Clean, well-maintained but medication concerns

I live at Mercy Crest in Barling, AR and it's exceptionally clean and well-maintained - no odors, freshly painted, neat private apartments with a very spacious one-bedroom and huge walk-in closet. The dining is restaurant-style with good food in a large, accessible dining room, and the facility is wheelchair/walker friendly. Staff are generally friendly, helpful, and the Director of Nursing and nurses give great care; there are daily activities, morning exercise, bingo, monthly gospel band, trips, a secure entry and memory-care unit, courtyard, chapel and more. I feel safe and well cared for overall, though I've noticed uneven staff performance and a concerning medication practice in the dining area - there is room for improvement.

    About Mercy Crest

Mercy Crest in Barling, Arkansas, offers a retirement community where people can choose from single room units, studios, or two-bedroom apartments, and each apartment comes with an emergency call system, its own private space, and controlled building access which helps everyone feel comfortable and safe, while outside there are patios, gardens, and spaces for gardening groups to gather whenever the weather is nice. Some pets are allowed depending on the rules, and guests can join residents during meal times, where heart-healthy meals and snacks are served in a community dining room, with special meal options available for anyone who needs them. The community provides weekly housekeeping, in-house laundry and dry cleaning, and keeps everything clean so residents don't have to worry about chores, and the skilled nursing team, along with specially trained caregivers, is there 24 hours a day to help with medication, daily needs like bathing or dressing, and other kinds of support, including memory care and mental health care when needed. Because people's needs are different, Mercy Crest has personalized care plans and can help with assisted living or independent living services, and the staff can help arrange medical transportation for outside appointments. Fitness rooms, group exercise, and even yoga or stretching classes are available, so people can stay active, plus there's WiFi, and a full-sized kitchen for those who still like to cook, and you'll find organized activities, games, spiritual programs, visits from entertainers, social events, and field trips, making it easy for folks to get involved or just enjoy time with friends. Religious services and in-house haircuts or barber visits are also available, and families can count on communication support from a resident liaison, while the community is well-prepared for emergencies with a generator, fire alarm system, and strong security features to keep everyone safe throughout the year. Mercy Crest accepts Veterans Aid benefits and other insurance, and offers advice on financial matters and cost assistance, which can help families figure out how to pay for care, and there are unique names for some of the service programs, though the exact details aren't always easy to list. Overall, the place tries to make life comfortable and simple for residents, with plenty of choices and a caring staff on hand, all backed by Mercy Crest Housing Inc., which has been around since 2010 and focuses on supporting health and well-being for seniors, whether someone needs just a little help or more specialized care like memory care or respite care for caregivers who need a break, and everyone gets the benefit of a supportive, welcoming community where people can thrive during retirement.
