    Upscale care, pricey with caveats

I found Edgehill to be an upscale, spotless, hotel-like community with lovely grounds, modern apartments, abundant activities and very good food. The skilled nursing, rehab and PT were top-notch, and most aides, therapists and front-line staff were attentive and kind. Caveats: it's very expensive with a significant buy-in/downpayment and limited refundability, resale can be difficult, and I experienced uneven nursing/emergency responses and occasional rude or overwhelmed staff - ownership/management can be slow to act. If you can afford it and get clear contract assurances, I'd recommend it for quality care and amenities.

About Edgehill Senior Living Community Stamford

Edgehill Senior Living Community sits on a quiet 22-acre campus on the border of Stamford and Greenwich, with well-kept grounds and easy walking trails where residents can stroll or just sit and enjoy the fresh air, and right there you'll see all sorts of folks enjoying the day because the community's laid out to be comfortable and easy to get around. The main building stands three stories tall, and it offers apartments with one or two bedrooms, most with kitchens and plenty of space, and some have their own little corner for small gardens if someone likes to grow flowers or tomatoes, they even made sure the sprinklers won't be a bother. Their independent living units take away the worry of maintenance, with housekeeping and the kind of apartment you can decorate with your own favorite things from home.

The campus covers many care needs in one place, first as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) by Benchmark Senior Living, you'll find independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, intermediate care, even sub-acute rehabilitation, and especially memory care for folks with Alzheimer's or other memory concerns. For someone who needs a break or just short-term help, they offer respite and short-term stays, and for those needing more support, the skilled nursing part has 46 beds, offering care from licensed clinicians for health supervision and rehabilitation, with both private and semi-private rooms. Services continue for those using private pay, private insurance, or Medicare. Edgehill's memory care unit is locked and secured, designed so residents can stay safe, and it's staffed with people who know how to help with memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer's, and they include brain activities and wellness planning so everyone has the chance to be busy and comfortable.

Edgehill's daily life is about keeping folks active and connected, and you'll always see residents joining fitness, wellness, or exercise programs, diving into activities that fill up the week with social, educational, and spiritual events, and sometimes heading out on trips. There's a swimming pool, a hot tub, rooms for gatherings, outdoor spaces, and even a beauty salon and barbershop right onsite. Dining is restaurant-style with many meal choices, and for people who want to attend devotional services, help's arranged for onsite or offsite gatherings. Staff are known to be helpful, kind, and always close by, with 24-hour emergency assistance, transportation for errands or appointments, and a concierge if someone needs it.

Edgehill's called "Best of Senior Living" and "All Star" for care and services, but most folks notice the easy, friendly atmosphere, and the way everyone can stay in control of their own routines while getting the help they need, or even the ability to participate in planned events without having to leave the campus. The Lifecare plan lets residents move between independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing care as their needs change, without worrying about care placement or sudden costs. Amenities mean residents enjoy a full calendar and a safe, comfortable life, and for families and caregivers, there are resources and planning support to help make decisions a little simpler. Edgehill offers a balance of independence, help, and genuine community, making daily life a bit easier and leaving residents free to enjoy their days however they wish.
