    Mostly good but staffing concerns

I live here and love the roomy, well-kept apartment, beautiful grounds, cafe-style dining areas and the maintenance-free, community feel - the staff I've met are often friendly, professional and caring. The place offers lots of activities, a gym, library and 24-hour/open visitation, and utilities/cable are included, which made the move easy. That said, I've also seen worrying signs: chronic understaffing, spotty communication, billing/administrative headaches and rising costs while some services shrink. Care can be inconsistent - missed grooming, safety incidents and hospital transfers have happened - and a few staff interactions felt rude or unresponsive. In short: attractive, well-run in many ways with many wonderful people, but verify staffing, oversight and billing before committing.

The community has 69 apartments and 50 country-style cottages, with one- and two-bedroom options from 550 up to 1,130 square feet, plus choices like studios, full kitchens, washers and dryers, patios, walk-in closets, sunrooms, garages, and private parking. You'll find single-story layouts, guest accommodations for meals or overnight stays, and rooms that include basic cable, electric, heat, and water. Residents can bring some pets, enjoy furnished rooms, and set the temperature how they like. The grounds have gardens, patios, walking paths, a putting green, billiards, bocce ball, lounges with fireplaces, sunrooms, a country club-style dining room, private dining spaces, and picnic spots with a gazebo. There's always something going on, since there are social, hobby, and fitness programs, movie nights, arts and crafts, organized trips, wellness classes, music and games, library use, pet therapy, and special events, so residents can join in and make friends.

There's help with daily tasks like bathing and dressing, medication management, therapy services, and even someone to go along to doctor appointments. Nurses are there all day and night, and there's memory care with secured spaces for those who need Alzheimer's support, along with tailored activities for memory health. You can get physical, occupational, and speech therapy on-site, plus rehab, hospice, and respite stays if a caregiver needs a break. The dining team serves up three meals a day, snacks, and options for special diets, and meals can be enjoyed in the elegant dining rooms or ordered to your room. The staff provides housekeeping, daily linen changes, laundry, dry cleaning, and helps with repairs, so living there is maintenance-free. A salon and barber shop take care of haircuts, and there's a wellness center, chapel, on-site spiritual programs, a variety of recreational rooms, and even a computer center.

Residents get free transportation for errands or outings, and parking for cars is on-site. Medical care is available with a 24-hour nursing team, emergency call systems and pendants, and help if someone comes back from a hospital stay. The staff is trained and easy to reach, and there's always someone to assist in an emergency or talk over questions about care plans. People aged 55 and over can live at Westminster Village at Dover, which welcomes adults needing affordable rental apartments with utilities covered, Life Plan Community options, and continuing care if needs grow over time. The community sits near medical centers, pharmacies, and shops, with Delaware's tax-free shopping close by. Residents can enjoy a peaceful setting, a homelike feel, and many ways to stay active, safe, and comfortable-all while being part of a not-for-profit Presbyterian Senior Living community, supported by the Masterpiece Living® and Thrive Wellness approaches for overall well-being.
