    Lovely community; declining dining management

I give this place 5/5 overall. The grounds, bright remodeled interiors, activities and sense of community are lovely, and many staff - especially nursing and therapy - are professional, caring, and attentive. That said, food quality and presentation have declined, staffing/training and scheduling/communication problems cause real hiccups, and I'm uneasy about reported management/legal concerns that should be investigated. If you value location, amenities and strong nursing, it's a great choice - just confirm dining and administration meet your expectations.

About Bay Village of Sarasota Inc

Bay Village of Sarasota Inc has served seniors for decades as a licensed continuing care retirement community in Florida, holding its accreditation since 1989, and you'll find both independent living and assisted living options here, along with memory care at The Tides, skilled nursing at Poole, and rehabilitation center services, so folks can stay as their care needs change, whether they still manage most things themselves or need daily help with things like dressing, medication, or getting around. The community has housekeeping and laundry, daily meal service with choices for specific diets-like for diabetics or allergies-plus transportation, services, and even move-in coordination, all of which help make life easier when you're getting older, and if you ever need quick help, there's a 24-hour emergency call system for peace of mind.

Accommodations include one- and two-bedroom homes and apartments, each with private kitchenettes, baths, storage areas, and for those who like furnished rooms, that's an option too, and the grounds have walking paths and garden areas for enjoying Florida weather, while the large event center, Palms Event Center, keeps the calendar full with programs, gatherings, and activities. Folks looking to stay social can join spiritual programs, arts and crafts in the arts room, movie nights in a theater with surround sound and comfy seats, or browse the over 6,000 books in the library, managed by resident volunteers, and if someone wants a haircut or to relax, there's a modern salon, spa terrace, and barbershop right on-site.

Dining happens in a main room or at Port of Call Dining for full meals and at Marker 48 Grill for quick bites and to-go options, with menus featuring international choices and vegetarian fare, so people don't get bored with what they eat. The expanded wellness center has a fitness studio, a cardio and strength training room, changing rooms, and everything needed for both regular exercise and physical therapy, and when people need groceries, gifts, or essentials, The Market Place sits right in the center of things.

Physical therapy, medication support, bathing assistance, nutritional support, and help with daily activities are all available from staff, and the place is set up to allow people to age in place instead of moving again as their needs grow, though like other Life Plan Communities, there's a buy-in fee for joining the program. Residents can count on scheduled daily activities, community and wellness programs, and all-day dining, along with the safety and comfort of emergency alert systems, safe parking, and regular transportation. The community has a remodeled design with updated comforts but stays grounded in relationships, offering chances for people to connect, find new experiences, and keep learning as the years roll by.
