    Homey community excellent amenities costly

I live here and overall it's been a very positive, homey experience - spacious apartments, beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces, excellent dining, and a full schedule of activities, fitness and pool options that keep me active and social. The staff are largely warm, caring and attentive (they handled pandemic safety very well) and the life-plan/continuous-care model gives me real peace of mind. My main complaints are inconsistent professionalism from a few areas (front desk/security/HR/kitchen/CNA) and the high cost/long-term purchase requirement. Despite that, I've made friends, feel safe, and enjoy the community most days.

    About Canterbury Court

Canterbury Court sits right on Peachtree Road in Atlanta, offering a wide range of living and care options for seniors on their 11-acre campus with winding walking trails, mature trees, and lots of flowering garden beds, so if somebody loves being outside or tending garden beds or just enjoying quiet green space, this is a place that makes it easy. The community stands out for its beautiful gardens, Legacy Gardens wildlife sanctuary, and the greenhouse with resident garden plots, and you see folks walking dogs along the paved paths, since they allow both cats and dogs, and there are benches and shaded areas spread out for sitting and enjoying the flowers. Up to 62 different independent living apartment floor plans are available, from studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom homes, some with balconies and in-unit laundry; there's a new campus addition with 105 more apartments coming along, so there's often a sense of growth and change.

Canterbury Court provides independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory support, all under one roof, so if needs change, residents can stay in the community thanks to this Life Care model, and residents in independent living get priority for skilled nursing or rehab rooms if that becomes necessary. There are 44 rooms in skilled nursing and 18 for catered living with help for daily needs. The Monarch Pavilion offers health services and physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with visiting physicians and a wellness center with its own health clinic and general counseling services, so basic and advanced medical needs are covered, including medication management and bathing or dressing assistance, and medical alert systems are set up throughout. There's dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting help if needed, and the OT and PT staff get good feedback for how caring and attentive they are.

Meals at Canterbury Court can be enjoyed in several remodeled dining rooms or a private dining room if residents want to eat with family and friends, or if someone isn't up to coming out, there's room service. The food's considered very good, and servers try to remember residents' favorite dishes. There's a regular calendar of social events, wellness activities, exercise programs, educational events, and art, plus trips and transportation for errands and appointments. For recreation, there's an indoor lap pool with easy access ramps, a fitness center, a billiards room, a full theater for movies or talks, and an arts and crafts studio, plus a woodworking shop, so options are plenty for people who want to stay active or creative or simply catch a movie. The library feels cozy, with soft seats and game tables by big windows, and there's Wifi in all areas, so people keep connected.

Residents find services like dry cleaning, laundry, weekly housekeeping, and a concierge handy, and security is visible and steady with a gated entrance, security measures, and on-site managers living on campus. Canterbury Court also has spiritual services in a quiet chapel, regardless of religious background. Social programs like Friends Helping Friends mean residents tend to know each other's names and help out, and you see a culture of friendliness, respect, and genuine care. The staff, across all services from dining to nursing, try to be professional and attentive rather than rushed or overbearing.

Canterbury Court calls itself Atlanta's original Life Plan Community. Although costs and rates aren't published, there's a Financial Fit Calculator for those comparing options. While there's a certain elegance to the buildings and the campus itself feels well looked after and quite peaceful, people describe the atmosphere as neighborly and relaxed without being showy or overdone. So, for seniors seeking a mix of outdoor beauty, a range of living options, a choice of floor plans, and the chance to stay in one place as needs change, this is a place people often settle into and come to call home.
