    Warm community, costly but recommended

I moved to Lenbrook and overall I'm glad I did. The staff are warm, attentive and make it feel like family; the food is excellent with multiple dining venues, and there are countless activities and amenities that created a busy, social life and new friendships. On-site clinic, fitness center, security and continuing-care options give me peace of mind and free me from home upkeep. Management runs a lively, well-managed community. Downsides: steep entrance and monthly fees, occasional rude front-line staff (valet/security/Bistro), spotty maintenance or food consistency sometimes, and a frustrating delay with a promised resale/money-back issue. If you can afford it, I'd recommend Lenbrook for an active, supported retirement-just go in with eyes open.

    About Lenbrook

Lenbrook has been serving older adults in Atlanta since 1983, and it stands out as the city's first and only internationally accredited not-for-profit Life Plan Community, so people who move in know the place has a long track record and meets higher standards. Residents need to be at least 62, and both men and women call the community home, with choices to live in high-rises, garden homes, villas, or flats, each one finished in a modern, comfortable style. Residents get three meals a day, and the kitchens can handle gluten-free diets if people need them, so everyone's included at mealtime. There are staff awake and on-call twenty-four hours every day, with nurses always on hand and a doctor available if needed, plus visiting dentists and podiatrists who stop by for checkups. Lenbrook makes it easier to age in place with different levels of care available, from light help to heavy care, so someone can keep living there if their needs change, and it also assists with memory care for Alzheimer's, manages diabetes, helps people with incontinence, and offers hospice options when the time comes. You'll find help with transfers from bed to wheelchair and more, and both incontinence and non-ambulatory residents get the support they need to stay as independent as they can. Staff are trained for medication management, and the on-site health center and clinic cover most healthcare needs, with long-term medical support and skilled rehab if someone's recovering. People can bring pets, and private covered parking is available, plus the free transportation makes it easier to get around Atlanta without driving yourself.

Inside, Lenbrook feels like a real community, with big gathering rooms, a movie theater, living rooms with fireplaces, a beverage lounge, private dining, a convenience store, business center, several card and billiard rooms, classrooms for learning, a day spa, and a library filled with books. For exercise and relaxation, residents use the heated indoor pool, hot tub, wellness center, and even a landscaped courtyard for a breath of fresh air or to meditate. The beauty salon and barbershop are on-site, so no one has to travel far for a trim, and the bathrooms and showers are wheelchair-accessible, with some rooms offering full tubs for those who want a soak. People stay connected with activities meant to keep bodies and minds moving, whether it's group games, exercise classes, or just sharing a cup of coffee in the common areas. Standby assistance is available for daily needs, and if residents don't want to drive, they can use Lenbrook's transportation for errands or appointments. The whole place was built for seniors to live with security, independence, and comfort, all while being surrounded by lush green spaces and a caring staff. The community has held top accreditation with CARF and the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission for decades, showing its commitment to quality, and keeps programs and amenities up to date, hoping residents stay active and supported as they age.
