    Bright community with caring staff

I've lived here nearly five years and overall I'm glad we chose Westminster - it's a bright, updated, well-kept campus with lovely gardens, great food, lots of activities, on-site rehab and nursing, and genuine staff who know residents by name. The care and maintenance give me real peace of mind, but it can be understaffed (call lights sometimes take too long), it's expensive, and the campus is large and a bit spread out. If you can afford it I recommend a two-bedroom - for me the caring staff and community outweigh the downsides.

    About Westminster Village

Westminster Village has been around since 1979, sitting on a 40-acre campus with mature trees and landscaped grounds where you can hear birds singing and you'll see gardens and outdoor patios that bring in fresh air, and it's a locally owned, not-for-profit place with a Board of Directors who live in the community. There are many different ways to live here, like studio apartments, single-room units, semi-private rooms, and even two-bedroom layouts, plus The Willows duplexes if you want a little more space. Some apartments have full-size kitchens, washer and dryer, balconies or patios, individually controlled heating and cooling, and room for your own furniture because they keep the decor neutral, and bigger rooms often have walk-in closets, kitchenettes, and private bathrooms. There's free on-site parking, so families can come and go easily, and overnight guests are allowed when you want them to stay.

People get meals every day in a large cafeteria or a community dining room, and there's tasty food and chances to eat with friends. There's a lot to do, with offsite activities, field trips, games, hobbies, crafts, fitness and wellness programs, and religious services right on-site, plus pet therapy, activity therapy, and even exercise classes. You get laundry for linens, in-house laundry and drycleaning, help with housekeeping, and maintenance so things keep running. They'll remind you to take your medicine or even give it to you if you need help, and a nurse-though part-time-along with the rest of the care team, keeps an eye on your health, with on-site skilled nursing, memory care, and Alzheimer's care if you need it, which is helpful for people with different needs.

Westminster Village offers a continuum of care as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing are all on the same wide campus, and you can get personal care, meal prep, and even shopping help without leaving. Scheduled physical and occupational therapist visits happen regularly, plus there's on-site therapy services, so you don't have to travel far to stay strong and steady. Residents can count on general transportation services-it's free-if they need to go out, and field trips and outings are organized, too. There are wellness programs to keep people active, and spiritual, cultural, and recreational programs to feed the mind and spirit.

Special units and services have their own names, like The Willows for duplex residents, and memory care areas are set aside for people with Alzheimer's, offering more specialized staff-staff holding licenses and insurance's accepted as payment. Salon services, haircuts, and barber visits are on-site as well, so no one has to travel to look nice, and when you want to be outdoors, the courtyard units and lounges give you options to get some sun or see the gardens. With over 40 years' experience, Westminster Village keeps a variety of living and care options under one roof, letting residents move to higher care levels if they need to, and it's all done with a goal of supporting active living and personal choice.
