    Caring staff, decline after ownership

I had a mixed experience. Many staff - nurses, CNAs, office team and Chaplain Mike - were warm, supportive and went above and beyond; my one-bedroom was comfortable (small kitchen) and activities, chapel and friends gave a real sense of community. But after new ownership things declined: I noticed neglect, poor attitudes, failures to assist (including feeding), spotty maintenance (clogged sinks, overflowing trash), and worrying financial/bottom-line behavior, so I can't fully recommend it.

About Wabash Senior Living & Rehabilitation

Wabash Senior Living & Rehabilitation, part of Wabash Christian Village, offers several care options including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, short-term rehab, memory support, and even an adult day care center that helps folks who want to stay home a little longer. The facility sits within a continuing care retirement community, so residents can get different levels of help if their needs change. The place accepts Medicare and Medicaid, and in June 2025, it'll have 63 certified skilled nursing beds out of 156 total. The staff provides support with memory care, Alzheimer's and dementia, bathing, dressing, daily activities, and medication management. Residents can expect nursing care between 12 and 16 hours daily, a 24-hour emergency system, and round-the-clock supervision. Wabash Christian Therapy handles rehab, offering programs for stroke recovery, fall prevention, speech therapy, balance problems, and restorative care, and staff can give outpatient therapy for things like lymphedema and women's health. They cater to those who are recovering from surgery or illness and handle wound care, heart and orthopedic conditions, and diabetes management, and folks usually say the care is compassionate and the rehab helps people get back on their feet after a setback.

Rooms come furnished with private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, phones, kitchenettes, and safety alert systems, with both private and shared options and move-in support available. The facility offers three meals a day and snacks, and the dining experience happens in a community dining room or with restaurant-style service, always with flexibility for special diets or allergies, and food is prepared by a professional chef. Housekeeping and personal laundry happen regularly, and the grounds include walking paths, gardens, open courtyards, a gazebo, and even a beauty salon. A full-time chaplain and faith-based programs serve those who want spiritual support, with Mercy Gate worship place nearby. Common areas are cozy and include an arts room, game room, library, business center, spa, fitness room, and a movie theater, with scheduled transportation for appointments and errands.

Residents and families can join councils to discuss concerns, and social and activity programs run daily, with movie nights, group activities, music and arts, outdoor programs, and therapy enrichment for both residents and outpatients. The place features a home-like environment, and staff say they focus on dignity, respect, and personal attention, and there's always an effort to balance quality of life with comprehensive care. Respite and hospice care are available along with family support services. Specialized programs like Grace Point and the Memory Care Unit aim to help people with needs beyond basic daily living, and there's a team including nurses, therapists, social workers, dietary staff, housekeepers, and administrators who all work together to help residents feel well cared for and comfortable during their stay.

This for-profit facility, owned by a limited liability company, has earned a 4.4 rating from 22 reviews, so most residents and families seem satisfied with services and care, and there's always someone available to answer questions or help new folks and families learn about options and resources.
