    Bright, welcoming, clean, friendly community

I toured Northridge Village and immediately felt at home - bright, clean, well-appointed apartments with kitchenettes, pet-friendly and smoke-free. The staff were warm, professional and helpful (Luke gave a stellar, unhurried tour; thanks also to Allyson, Kim, Kelly and Maddie), drivers courteous, and maintenance prompt. Home-cooked meals 2-3 times daily with desserts and a coffee shop, plus gym, spa, salon, activities, chapel and shuttle create a true community where residents seem happy and engaged. I'm grateful for their help and would highly recommend Northridge.

    About Northridge Village

Northridge Village sits as a two-storey senior living community in Ames, Iowa, providing a range of care from independent living to long-term skilled nursing and memory care, and the place feels warm and welcoming with apartments designed to be light-filled, spacious, and comfortable for seniors, with convenient kitchens, washers, and dryers, and it's nice that residents can choose between one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. The community's Independent Living apartments come with full kitchens and modern features, along with two meals every day, seven days a week, and the staff takes care of maintenance, which lets people focus on enjoying their days. For those who want more help, Assisted Living provides extra support with daily activities and help as needed, with services tailored after careful assessment by a skilled nursing team, making sure each plan respects dignity and wishes.

Northridge Village stands out for its specialized Maggie's Place Memory Care, where doors are secured, the courtyard is fenced, and staff are specially trained in Alzheimer's and dementia care, with both private and semi-private rooms to choose from, so family members can feel a sense of safety for their loved ones. The long-term care and skilled nursing services there give ongoing, around-the-clock health support, and those needing short-term rehabilitation after surgery or illness get quiet, private rooms or suites, along with physical, occupational, and speech therapies. The sense of community there is strong because people are friendly, there's a family feel, and staff treat everyone with respect and care.

Northridge Village organizes many engaging activities, so residents can join in bingo games, book clubs, arts and crafts, church services, chair exercises, movie nights, and off-site outings to the grocery store, dinners, concerts, plays, museums, and gardens, which helps people stay active and social. Pets are welcome, and the dining experience brings everyone together, with tasty meals crafted to suit seniors' preferences and options for coffee and dessert in a comfortable setting. There are helpful services like medical appointment shuttles, and learning sessions where healthcare professionals share new information, and the leadership programs like Leadership Ames, service project requests, and Chamber Ambassadors give residents and staff more ways to connect with the wider community and stay involved.

The Executive Director sets a warm and accessible tone, and the staff provides expert, reliable care, always aiming for a supportive atmosphere. Northridge Village works with groups like the Iowa Health Care Association, Iowa Center for Assisted Living, and Iowa Center for Home Care to keep improving and updating care and quality of life. Residents and their families can access a member directory and take part in membership events or annual awards, and there's a wide-ranging community calendar, news updates, and advocacy programs, as well as initiatives that encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion, and different housing or financial options through various sponsorships, workforce solutions, and affiliate organizations. The entire place really does feel structured to meet the different needs of seniors as they change, with staff always looking for ways to help each person thrive.
