    Warm attentive staff beautiful campus

I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience - staff are warm, professional and attentive; the village-like campus is pristine (gardens, patios, koi pond), rooms are comfortable, and there are plentiful activities, great memory/continuing-care services, personalized dining and COVID-safe practices. Be aware of a high buy-in/ongoing fees and long wait list, and occasional reports of management/understaffing - overall I would recommend it if you can afford it and stay involved in care.

    About Carleton-Willard Village

Carleton-Willard Village sits on 72 acres at 100 Old Billerica Road in Bedford, Massachusetts, and it's a not-for-profit community where folks can enjoy fields, woods, walking paths, and gardens like The Gardens at Carleton-Willard, which has shady glens, sunny courtyards, and plenty of flowers and trees. The village has apartments, cottages once called cluster homes, and special places like Arlington Court and The David Fitch House, with private and semi-private rooms for those who need different kinds of care. People can pick from independent or assisted living options, and there's supportive care for helping with things like bathing, dressing, showering, and medicine. Skilled nursing and rehabilitation are here too, with a therapy group that offers physical, occupational, and speech therapies using modern equipment. There's also a secured memory care unit and dedicated services for those with Alzheimer's or dementia who need special attention.

Carleton-Willard Village has short-term, long-term, respite, and palliative care, plus services for end-of-life and help with moving from one level of care to another. Medicare and Medicaid payments are accepted, and the staff includes caring people who help around the clock. Social programs and lifelong learning keep residents active, while the fitness and aquatics center, Village Clinic, and the Village Centre provide places to stay healthy and meet with friends. Dining services and gardens give everyone a chance to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Carleton-Willard At Home lets folks get help in their own homes if that's what they want.

The village also focuses on safety and quality of care by running campaigns for flu shots and fall prevention, teaching about sepsis, and working to cut down on certain medicines unless they're really needed. The community supports caregivers through advocacy and offers job training and continuing education, including RCA training courses and seminars. With 70 beds and a variety of supportive, medical, and memory care options, Carleton-Willard Village works together with Boston University School of Medicine and uses resources like MassMAP and MassCAP to keep standards high and help in emergencies. With woods and meadows all around, and lots of programs and helpful hands, this village-type setting gives older adults and their families many choices for care and support. For more details, folks can always check their website at cwvillage.org.
