    Beautiful grounds, caring staff, pricey

I live here/placed a parent here and overall I'm very glad we did - beautiful grounds and apartments, friendly and caring staff, strong programming (exercise, music, games, classes) and generally good dining. The memory-care unit and caregiving feel competent, but it is pricey and staffing shortages have sometimes cut activities, slowed responsiveness, and delayed/changed move-in amenities. Despite those issues, we felt at home and would recommend it.

    About New Pond Village

New Pond Village sits by the calm banks of Willett Pond at 180 Main Street in Walpole, MA, where several apartment buildings are tucked among trees and blooming gardens, with well-kept paths winding by the water and a courtyard shaded by a pergola where folks can sit and talk or watch the birds. The community offers a mix of independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing within a Continuing Care Retirement Community model, so people can get more help as their needs change without moving to a whole new place, and they call it a Lifecare community because the plan covers different levels of care. Apartments come in several layouts like one or two bedrooms, and some have balconies or patios, modern kitchens with sturdy granite counters and stainless appliances, plus in-unit laundry and bathrooms with glass showers, grab bars, and seated vanities for easier use. The grounds have a pet-friendly policy and are wheelchair accessible, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the outside and join in on gardening in the greenhouse or walks around the pond, and the maintenance-free living means no one has to mow lawns or fix leaks.

Dining is a highlight, with "The Taste of Neponset Region" and "Regional Restaurant Week" letting residents try special gourmet meals prepared by experienced chefs, and folks can eat in several dining rooms, which many find both social and pleasant. People can join activities and programs all week, from fitness classes to music, social groups, cultural events, and educational sessions, with Elder Care Alliance and MSBDC Advising among the offerings, and the staff runs programs meant for both active adults and those needing memory support, helping everyone stay engaged and connected. A Virtual Member Decal gives some residents extra perks, like coupons and discounts around the community and beyond. Services like medication management, 24-hour supervision, personal care, and home health support are all available to those who need them, with care tailored for each person.

New Pond Village hosts many activities in the community, and the atmosphere is designed to bring people together so neighbors know each other and no one feels left out, which matters when folks move in and look to make new friends. There are on-site places like a wellness center, a country store, and even a small bank, making daily life easier, plus a salon for haircuts, a fitness center for exercise, and regular housekeeping to keep everything clean. The community runs on resident satisfaction, with feedback shaping programs and a community score based on what people think about living there. Some apartments open to the pond, and the rooms themselves are simple but modern, with just about everything needed to feel comfortable and safe. New Pond Village gives seniors who don't want to own a home anymore a chance to enjoy retirement in a setting that fits different stages of aging, surrounded by nature and close to local parks, cafes, and shops.
