Ashbury Heights sits tucked away in a peaceful spot with lots of trees nearby and even some lakes in the area, so folks can enjoy a bit of nature right outside, and the place keeps things small with room for only 12 people, making it feel quiet and home-like with private or shared suites, furnished if needed, and even private bathrooms in every room so no one has to worry about sharing when they don't want to. Everyone who lives at Ashbury Heights gets help that fits what they need, with trained staff and a live-in administrator always around, day and night, to help with moving from bed to chair, managing medicines, or calling the doctor when needed, and there's also care for bathing, dressing, preparing meals, and housekeeping or laundry, which means everyday chores don't pile up. People who need help during the day, but not overnight, can use their Adult Day Watch service, while others can settle in for longer stays, and some might just need a break through respite or hospice care, which Ashbury Heights also provides. For those with special medical needs like diabetes or incontinence, the caregivers and certified medication staff stay close by, plus the place works with outside nurses and therapists who visit for things like foot care, physical therapy, or speech therapy, and family can rest a little easier knowing the staff keeps track round-the-clock and uses emergency call systems and safety features like step-in showers in every suite. Folks gather in shared dining rooms for scheduled meals, all cooked on site with allergy and diabetes-friendly options, and folks are welcome to join in movie nights, group activities, or spend time outdoors in the garden or on the walking paths, so there's always something social to do for those who want it, while quieter folks can take it easy in the indoor or outdoor common spaces. Ashbury Heights also runs devotional services both indoors and outdoors and helps everyone get out into the community with transportation arrangements for an extra fee or with parking for those who drive, and being close to buslines means it's easy to get to nearby attractions. The staff sets up care plans for each resident so they get just the right support-light, medium, or heavy care-as needed, and Ashbury Heights keeps things simple with everything mostly included, from meals to laundry, which helps older adults stay as independent as possible while having help close by, and those on Missouri's Medicaid program might find it fits their budget. Everyone needs to be at least 55 years old to live at Ashbury Heights, and in the end, with all the support and chances to make friends, the community tries to give every resident both comfort and freedom in a safe spot.
Understaffed facility with safety concerns
I was hopeful when we placed my mom-there are nice activities, decent meals, a great administrator and a few caring staff-but overall I'm extremely disappointed. The place is severely understaffed and disorganized: medication mix-ups/theft concerns, inaccurate nursing notes, on-duty naps, residents left unattended, rehired problematic staff, missed appointments, and a dark, unsafe feeling. Communication has improved and some staff are wonderful, but frequent admin turnover and lack of trust mean do your due diligence before choosing this facility.
