    About Realife of Columbus

ReaLife of Columbus sits at the end of its own cul-de-sac in Platte County, Nebraska, less than a mile from Columbus Community Hospital, so you can find it easily, and with its long S-shaped red brick, single-story building, it looks welcoming but practical from the outside, and inside you'll find 32 independent living apartments for folks aged 62 and up who want to live on their own but could use some extra support, where every apartment has its own full kitchen with a refrigerator, range, and disposal and some even come with dishwashers, microwaves, washer and dryer connections, and full-size pantries if that's something important, and residents who drive can ask for covered parking or even garages, while those who don't can count on the scheduled van service and complimentary scheduled transportation that runs for no charge, which makes getting to appointments or stores easier. Water, gas, and garbage disposal are included in monthly rent so you won't have to juggle multiple bills, and every apartment comes with extra storage, huge closets, and, depending on your choice, one or two bedrooms-plus there are nine floor plans to pick from, which some folks like because it lets them choose what's comfortable for them, and if you have a pet, you'll find ReaLife is pet friendly and smoke-free all throughout, making it more comfortable for both people and animals. If you don't want to deal with laundry in your apartment, you can use the complimentary laundry room, and if you've got limited mobility, the doors and hallways and everywhere else were built for wheelchairs and walkers. The whole place uses a controlled access system and there's an intercom to summon help if needed any hour of the day, and each apartment is equipped with fire alarms and smoke detectors for safety, and with both on-site and offsite devotional services, folks interested in spiritual life don't have to give that up. For activities, staff schedule community events and outings, which gives you or your loved ones a chance for socializing and learning something new, and there's a big community room right at the center if you want to get together with neighbors, plus a guest room if family wants to stay overnight. Internet and cable TV come in the rent, so there's no need to mess around with separate accounts, and you can walk down for your mail since there's on-site mail delivery. If you ever need help with daily activities, you can pick your own caregiver-ReaLife doesn't decide for you but allows outside caregivers to help with things like diabetic care, incontinence care, or non-ambulatory assistance. Meals planned by chefs are available if you like, which takes the work out of cooking, and there's always a big push to keep social, educational, and entertainment events happening so folks keep active. If cost is a concern, there are income-based apartments, rent might be about thirty percent of your monthly income in some cases, and if you qualify, Section 8 (202) housing is part of what they offer, with the aim to accommodate very low-income elderly households too, and you can choose between co-op or lease options. Office hours land on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and you can start an application either by calling or stopping by in person, and if you want to learn more or see the place, tours are an option. The facility's website shares more details about everything mentioned, from floor plans to available services and community rules.
