    Beautiful campus pricey occasional staffing

I moved my mom here and overall I'm pleased: the campus is beautiful, clean and modern with bright, spacious apartments, great amenities (pool, gym, cafe, theater) and lots of activities. Staff are mostly professional, friendly and knowledgeable, and on-site therapy/nursing/specialty care gives us real peace of mind. The food and common areas are nice and the location/village layout is convenient. Drawbacks: it's expensive, there's a long waitlist, and I've noticed occasional staffing shortages-slow call responses and delayed care can happen. For us the positives have outweighed the negatives.

    About Brethren Village

Brethren Village sits in Pennsylvania and offers what they call a Life Plan Community for people 62 and older, which some folks might know as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so you've got different levels of support all in the same place, meaning you can choose from independent living, personal care, skilled nursing, memory care, respite care, home care, and even short-term rehabilitation if you need it, and they do have both freestanding homes and villas, as well as cottages and apartments in a bunch of floor plans, so there's a good bit of flexibility. For those looking for something maintenance-free, they take care of the lawn, snow, and household repairs, so you really can let them handle the headaches that can come with a house. If you like variety, there are studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, some with private rooms and kitchenettes, plus each space has its own heating, air conditioning, and closets. They offer independent living units starting at $700 a month, and folks who qualify by HUD income standards might be able to take part in affordable housing.

The Courtyards at Brethren Village has 120 skilled nursing residences if someone needs more care, and if you need just a little bit of help, the Personal Care team offers assisted living by helping with things like bathing, getting dressed, laundry, housekeeping, and medicine, and you'll find support for memory needs and Alzheimer's care with a secured memory care unit as well. A 24-hour call system is in place for emergencies or support, and there's medication management, supervision, and care for folks who don't get around easily. They focus on treating each resident with dignity, listening to wishes and preferences, especially in the skilled nursing areas.

The staff includes multi-lingual caregivers who speak English, offering a supportive environment, and they believe in wellness and social activity with group exercise, aquatic programs, a heated indoor pool, fitness centers, and walking paths, plus plenty of activities like arts, crafts, movie nights, and a music program. The campus features scheduled transportation, chaplaincy services, three concierge desks, covered and guest parking, wheelchair access, private rooms, pet-friendly policies for small animals, and controlled access points for added security. Everything's connected with outdoor spaces, activity rooms, a chapel, pharmacy, library, community activities rooms, a woodworking shop, model train room, resident gardens, beauty salon, grocery stores, gift shop, thrift shop, and meal choices for allergies or diabetes in several dining spaces, some restaurant style. There's also move-in coordination and support for laundry, housekeeping, and even short-term stay and rehabilitation services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. If you want faith-based programming or chaplaincy services, they provide it, too. Folks don't have to worry about feeling bored, since the daily schedule includes different social and wellness programs, entertainment, and outings in the local area, and there's always staff responding around the clock. The goal for many here involves letting people age in place within a community that's got levels of care if your needs change over time, so you're not moving from one place to another as those needs shift.
