    Lovely campus, caring staff, issues

I chose Pleasant View and feel confident - the beautiful rural campus, gorgeous country views, indoor walkways, pool, fitness center, bistro, walking trails and clean, livable rooms make it feel like home. The staff, therapists and social worker have been caring and professional, and the small, friendly resident community offers real connections and good activities. Be aware there are occasional understaffing and slow responses (especially on one skilled unit), some administrative glitches (application/financial communication), and food/dining can be limited or not included in price. Overall I highly recommend it but advise probing staffing, home-health services and costs before you commit.

    About Pleasant View Communities

Pleasant View Communities sits out in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and has a long history of caring for older adults in a faith-based way, serving about 400 residents with a strong sense of community. The place started as a nursing home, but through the years, it's grown into a continuing care retirement community that folks trust, offering everything from independent apartments and cottages to Personal Care, Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation, and a secured Memory Support unit, so you can find help for memory issues like Alzheimer's right on site along with regular home health and short-term care too. You'll find all kinds of living options with 197 units, like studios, one and two bedroom apartments, and roomy cottages, and those new cottages they're building run from 1,200 to 1,500 square feet, some with one bedroom and some with two, giving people plenty of choices, plus there's storage units if you want somewhere to put extra things, and covered garage parking and shuttle buses for getting around the campus.

There's a lot near Pleasant View Communities too-grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, gas stations, pharmacies, and places for banking-so folks don't have to go far for errands, and the campus itself is full of extras like the Hearth and Harrow Restaurant, cafés, a barbershop, a beauty salon, fitness centers with the PVFiT program and group classes, even a heated indoor pool, hot tub, infrared and cedar saunas, a woodworking shop, garden plots, greenhouses, billiards, a walking trail, and a train club for people who like hobbies and staying active. Residents enjoy different services like meals, laundry, housekeeping, rides to appointments, home health aides, and lots of social and wellness programs, along with access to nursing care, physical therapy, and memory care, all on a fee-for-service setup, and there's several ways to pay, even refund plans with varying percentages of the entrance fee depending on what fits. Apartments and cottages have fully equipped kitchens, and there's always activities in the lounges and media center or special events in the Kreider Farms Cultural Center, which is getting ready to house the Manheim Community Library soon.

Pleasant View Communities keeps things flexible, pets are considered, and people can choose independent living when they're able, or move into assisted living or skilled nursing when needs change-everything's licensed as a Personal Care Home by Pennsylvania. The community also helps folks settle in with their "Making Your Move" program, and people can ask for tours, floor plans, or details about payment options. Volunteers, visitors, and local groups stay active here, since programs like PV at Home send services out to people, and the Lofts at Lititz Springs lets folks in the 55+ group live in downtown Lititz, though that one isn't part of the regular care system. Pleasant View Communities remains nonprofit, life plan based, and tries hard to give each resident a safe place with support, strong values, and a friendly neighborly feel every day.
