    Family-oriented community with excellent amenities

I placed my parent here and overall we're happy - it's a Christian, family-oriented community with gorgeous, well-kept housing, excellent chef-driven food (even an ice cream parlor), lots of amenities (pool, gym, cafe, trips, concerts) and solid rehab/continuous-care services. Staff are usually professional, caring and attentive, and the place is well run and good value. My main concerns are lapses I've observed in infection control/PPE and inconsistent staffing attitudes at times, plus I'd like more daily indoor activities. I recommend it but advise watching skilled-nursing safety and staffing.

    About Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community

Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community stands as a Christian, Presbyterian community that puts care and comfort first for older adults who need different levels of support, and you'll see this from the moment you arrive, because the neighborhood offers all sorts of living arrangements like apartments, personal care suites, memory support units for dementia, and skilled nursing rooms for either short or long stays, including 68 private rooms and 42 semi-private rooms that actually give you some space and feel a lot like home, which can be important for folks who value their privacy but also want community nearby. The campus has award-winning cottages, such as the Asher Cottage in Great Rock, with several sizes ranging from 1,400 to over 3,000 square feet, so families or single folks can both find something comfortable for their situation, and the apartments and cottage homes let you pick what works best for your needs and budget.

Dining is easy with a formal dining room, a bistro café, and even the Joyful Scoop ice cream shoppe open so you can enjoy meals or an ice cream, and there are designated dining and common areas meant for social gatherings, which helps people avoid feeling alone. The staff's trained to help in different ways, including doctors that come to campus for eyes, feet, teeth, and hearing, as well as certified physical, occupational, and speech therapists right there at the Outpatient Rehab Center, so you don't have to worry about driving out for simple appointments or therapy. If you want to stay active or connected, you'll find a general store, a greenhouse for gardening, a wood shop, a train room, a game room, an arcade, and paved walking trails, while the Great Rock Wellness Center comes with a pool, spa, locker facilities, indoor walking track, and a fitness center, so there's almost always something going on for folks who like moving around or just spending time with neighbors.

People living with memory loss get extra support in secure residences led by dementia-certified teams, and the whole team-from nurses to caregivers-focuses on treating people with respect and paying attention to their physical, social, and spiritual lives, which is important if you want people around you who care about more than just medicine. Community activities happen every week, including visits from speakers, concerts, dramatic performances, craft classes, outings to local parks and restaurants, and trips to attractions or shopping, so folks always have a reason to get up, get out, and enjoy the day, and volunteers come in to help keep things lively as well. For those who want to join, the community has resources like cost-of-living comparisons, Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Care Living, video tours, and staff ready to help you figure out the steps, so it's not a puzzle to get started.

Many residents say the campus feels welcoming and peaceful, probably helped along by the Christ-centered focus that shapes daily life, and while the amenities and services are modern, the real strength might be in how the place still feels relaxing, with families welcome and deep friendships forming over shared meals or long walks. Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community offers different care levels-personal care, memory support, skilled nursing, and supportive living-so residents can stay on campus if their needs change, and the Covenant Home Care service adds one more way families and residents can get support without leaving the area. All in all, the place combines day-to-day comforts and basic necessities with opportunities to live well, keep up faith, and enjoy time with others as the years roll on, and that keeps a lot of folks content, secure, and settled as they get older.
