    Beautiful facility but safety concerns

I found the facility beautiful, very clean and well-maintained, with nice apartments, patios, lovely grounds and plenty of common areas and amenities (dining, laundry, salon, gym, activities). Staff were mostly friendly, attentive and quick with maintenance, and the community felt active and home-like with dual-licensing/independent-living continuity. Pricing was a big downside - rates are expensive, not disclosed up front, and seem to rise yearly with aggressive follow-up. I was pleased with the food, social opportunities and convenient location, but remodeling and ownership/staff turnover sometimes affected atmosphere. Most seriously, I observed incidents that violated dignity and safety - privacy violations and disrespectful care that resulted in a resident being injured - which gives me pause about long-term trust.

    About Arrowhead Lodge Senior Living

Arrowhead Lodge Senior Living sits on East Minnesota Street in Rapid City, against the eastern slope of the Black Hills, and offers a pretty view with outdoor spots and walking paths where folks can visit with family or relax outside when they feel like it, and the place has two-story buildings and front and back doors you can look out of, which gives the place a peaceful feeling, and it's got both one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments for residents, so you've got some choice about how much space you want. People at Arrowhead Lodge find a mix of care levels, too, from independent living for those who don't need much help, to regular assisted living, respite care for short stays, and memory care for adults living with Alzheimer's or dementia. The Care Teams there are known for really listening to what residents and their families want, making sure care matches each person's needs, whether that means help with medicine, bathing, dressing, or just getting around, and the staff tries to make everyone feel like they're home, even as people's health needs change.

The place includes scheduled activities like yoga, puzzles, and coffee hours, and folks can go out on supervised trips to places like Walmart, so there's always something to do, and people say the meals are good and served in a dining area with four-seat tables for a restaurant-style feel. There are two vans, a big one and a smaller one, for getting residents to appointments or out for recreation. The staff includes well-trained professionals who work to make sure everyone gets the care they need, and the building has furnished common rooms for visiting and gathering, plus secured entries for safety, and a resident portal to help families stay in touch and get information. Reviews left by families are checked for accuracy by SeniorAdvisor.com, and the community's got both a high average rating- 4.5 stars - and another set of six reviews averaging 3.3 stars, so you can get a sense that people's experiences vary, as they do anywhere, but overall folks rate the place as excellent.

Arrowhead Lodge Senior Living is managed by Sinceri Senior Living, a company that's been around for over 30 years and runs several types of senior communities, including ones with skilled nursing for folks who need more care, and places for continuing care if health needs change over time. The facility takes part in programs like Medicaid, Medicare Savings, energy help, caregiver support, employment, and veteran benefits, so staff can help you figure out what help you might be able to use if you need it, and there are resources and planning guides about senior living decisions on hand for families. Prices aren't listed publicly, but the Care Teams provide help explaining costs during a free consultation, and they'll also walk you through all the options to see what fits best. Arrowhead Lodge wants residents to have good moments each day, enjoy activities, keep their relationships strong, and feel safe, whether they just need a bit of support or much more attentive care, and while they say it's a beautiful and comfortable place, it really does depend on what you're looking for in your next home.
