    Clean, caring facility, staffing concerns

I placed a loved one here and overall I was pleased: the facility is clean, bright and home-like, the cafeteria and food are good, and staff are mostly friendly, professional and responsive. Activities exist but felt limited (my dad was bored and rehab was cut to 3 days/week). Hospice coordination and end-of-life care were compassionate and very reassuring to our family. I did notice occasional weekend staffing gaps, a few attitude/oversight problems (including a serious catheter/infection concern reported by another family), and some understaffing at times. All told, a well-run, convenient place I would recommend with a few reservations.

    About The Meadows

The Meadows is a senior living community in Nashville, TN, and folks over 55 can choose from independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing care, all under one roof, and they let you schedule a tour if you want to look around, meet staff, or even chat with a few residents. They have one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments-including studio units-and some units come with full-size kitchens and kitchen appliances, so people who like their own space and privacy can have it. It's got cable and high-speed internet, and every room's got its own heating and air controls, plus a 24-hour emergency call system if anyone needs quick help. If you need help with personal care, like bathing, dressing, or even managing medicines, they've got people who'll help, and there's 24/7 nursing staff and specialized staff, with a nurse on part-time. There's incontinence care, oxygen therapy, skilled nursing, help with transfers, and therapies like occupational, physical, and rehabilitation therapy, and if you have memory issues, the memory care wing helps with medication reminders and safety.

Meals are served restaurant-style, with a licensed nutrition program run by a Registered Dietitian, and there's a team of chefs and meal planners who make sure everyone eats well, including special meals. Residents can join activities from movie nights, music, arts and crafts, and game nights to a gardening group, cooking club, exercise programs, and even offsite trips. For quiet time, there's a library and outdoor patios, plus landscaped courtyards, gardens, walking and hiking areas, and a hot tub spa for relaxing. There's also a clubhouse, a recreation room, and common area TVs where folks watch together.

The Meadows has a post-acute 24-hour Health Care Center for both short- and long-term care needs, with diabetes care, non-ambulatory care, pain management, wound care, psychiatric care, podiatry, dental visits, and IV therapy. An on-site pharmacy, CNA training programs, and part of the Tennessee Health Care Association mean help is close at hand. There's also respite care for people who need a short stay while their families are away. People needing communication or swallowing therapy have access to specialized help, and there are rehab programs for things like joint replacements, recovery after stroke, amputation therapy, and discharge planning. Housekeeping, laundry, linen services, and on-site maintenance are done by staff, and pest control and full fire, flood, and tornado insurance are included.

You've got parking for your car, transportation for offsite events and appointments, and phone service in units. Harpeth Meadows is there for independent living, care homes are on-site, and RHA runs the assisted living. There's also religious services, a musical group for residents, and memory care suited for people with Alzheimer's or other memory issues. The facility is managed by Lakeshore Nashville Senior Communities and NHC, and staff are said to be friendly and helpful. The Meadows has been recognized for Best Meals and Dining, Best Activities, and Most Friendly in Senior Living. They accept Medicare and Medicaid as payment, and care is fee-for-service. People can move in and get help for a while or stay for the long-term, and there's long experience behind the care with a continuum developed since 1971, and you'll find many options whether you're very independent or you need a lot of help.
