    Beautiful campus, mixed care quality

I live here and overall I love the beautiful, well-kept, hotel-like campus, large/up-to-date apartments and chef-prepared, very varied dining across multiple venues. Staff are friendly and professional, the place is spotless, and there are endless activities, a wellness center with pool/gym/spa, on-site medical services, security, and strong social connections. Care quality is mixed - I've seen outstanding rehab and rapid responses from nurses but also delays, lack of personal attention, and gaps in memory/assisted care. It's active and resident-focused, but parking, long hallways, and a slightly institutional feel bothered me. It's expensive with buy-ins and transition fees and some refund/fee policies felt unfair. I'd recommend it for independent, social seniors who want top amenities, but caution families who need guaranteed, timely memory/assisted support.

    About Highland Springs

Highland Springs is a senior living community for adults 62 and older that offers a wide range of care options, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Home Health, and a full Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) setup, so folks have a place to turn as their needs change, and the campus is managed by Erickson Senior Living, which lots of people find trustworthy. There's a focus on comfort and safety-residents move around by wheelchair if needed and the grounds have paved walkways, putting greens, and outdoor patios for fresh air and relaxation, plus there's a gated entrance and a security guard at the front. The apartments are maintenance-free, open-layout, furnished units with plenty of natural light from big windows, and residents pick from several living and dining styles, with open-concept Memory Care apartments right near the kitchen so it's easier to get around. There are six restaurants, an inviting bar, a yellow dining room, and several cozy social and dining spaces throughout, but some reviews say the meals can be hit or miss, though chefs focus on balanced, nutritious food. Six unique dining venues, including bright options with outdoor seating and an all-season pool nearby, make it easy for neighbors to get together, and deliveries and pharmacy services help people manage daily needs.

Highland Springs runs community-sponsored events, arts and music programs, and clubs, including fitness classes and resident-planned activities, and there's always something to do with movie nights, library gatherings, devotional activities, and offsite trips, since transportation services are included and regular outings go to shopping and local events. Indoors, there's a library with a fireplace, a movie theater with comfortable seating, a fitness center with special HUR equipment for post-acute therapy, a pool, and game rooms; outdoors, folks enjoy well-kept lawns, a putting green, and shaded paths, plus plenty of benches and places to sit with friends or watch the birds. The staff support individualized care-nursing help's available 12 to 16 hours a day, there's a 24-hour emergency call system, and residents have regular visits from full-time, board-certified doctors, with Dr. Mary Norman leading the on-site medical center. Medical services cover diabetes care, medication management, hospice waivers, and incontinence help, and licensed nurses provide in-home care if needed. Highland Springs has a dedicated memory care neighborhood with safety features for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia and houses a health and wellness navigation program, physical, occupational, and speech therapy on site, and a pharmacy delivery service.

There's a strong sense of community here-many say the staff act helpful and kind, so the place feels warm and friendly, and alongside the standard support, the facility takes care to foster diversity, including support for LGBTQ+ seniors, and all staff get special training in diversity, equity, and inclusion. The management also supports safe, positive spaces through programs for education, planning, and resident support, and the community has a council to address issues of belonging. Highland Springs includes all sorts of amenities, from climate-controlled glass walkways between buildings to a well-stocked library and a host of common rooms and meeting spots, all set in professionally landscaped grounds with nice trees and water features. The community's not-for-profit, and residents pay a single monthly fee based on the care they actually use; reviews note a strong community score and attention to neighborhood safety and livability. Regular services cover deliveries, parking, air conditioning, WiFi, and a health center, making life easier and a bit lighter on the chores for those who call Highland Springs home.
