    Lovely active community with cautions

I live here and love the warm, family-like, vibrant community - beautiful grounds (80 acres, lake, trails), spacious well-kept apartments, abundant activities and amenities (gym, theater, library, chapel, garden) and convenient transportation. The staff are mostly friendly, caring and hardworking, dining and Wi-Fi have improved, pets are welcome, and I feel connected and safe. That said, I've seen pricing issues and a few troubling lapses in care/cleanliness (rude supervisor, missed walker, unsanitary bathroom/recliner, poor discharge help), so ask direct questions about costs and nursing/staffing. Overall it's a lovely, active place I'd recommend with those cautions.

    About Lake Forest Village

Lake Forest Village sits on a quiet, 55-acre campus with tree-lined streets, a lakeside setting, spacious walking trails, and parks, and it feels a bit like living in the country, though shopping and medical offices are just minutes away, so people don't have to go far for errands or healthcare. This community offers many choices for older adults, like independent living options in casitas, cottages, duplexes, apartments, and twin homes, some with full kitchens, several floor plans from one to three bedrooms, and maintenance-free living where residents can decorate their places how they like. There are also assisted living services for folks who want to stay independent but need some help, with staff available 24/7 for things like grooming, laundry, medication management, and daily activities, and there's memory care for people who need extra support, all tailored to each person's needs so folks get personal care without losing their privacy or independence.

Lake Forest Village runs skilled nursing homes and offers intermediate care for those who need more medical support, including long-term care with 24-hour nursing and help with health checks using a Personal Health Button, plus Medicare-approved skilled nursing options. People recovering from hospital stays can get rehabilitation therapy-occupational, physical, and speech-with state-of-the-art equipment, all in a home-like setting aimed at keeping everyone comfortable and safe.

The grounds have a quiet, country-like atmosphere, with open outdoor spaces, serene walking trails, and a big lake for taking in the fresh air, and inside, the community is pet-friendly and completely handicap accessible, so everyone, whether they're residents or visitors, can get around easily. Most apartments and homes offer private living areas, some have kitchenettes, and there are on-site amenities like a full-service coffee bar in the social parlor, a gourmet dining room with chef-prepared meals, three meals a day, plus a general store, thrift shop, media center, well-stocked library, full-service salon and spa, and even a dynamic activity center where people can connect during events.

Lake Forest Village has a 5-Star CMS rating as of October 2024, and the staff put an emphasis on health and wellness for all residents, whether in independent living, assisted living, or long-term care, and they make sure everyone can join in on spiritual activities, with Bible studies and worship programs happening regularly. There are scheduled social events, wellness programs, arts, outings, and hobby groups that help people stay active in body and mind, and high-speed Wi-Fi, all utilities, basic cable, emergency response systems, and housekeeping come standard, along with transportation services and on-site parking with street lighting for added convenience.

People can take daily tours to see what it's really like, get a sense of the dining, activities, and atmosphere, and see how staff handle daily support and care. There's also a variety of services for those looking for home health, post-acute rehab, independent living with or without optional services, or even those who need only occasional help. The community encourages involvement through things like Leadership Denton, advocacy programs, Chamber Ambassadors, and regular celebration events, so everyone has a chance to participate and stay engaged. All these things help residents feel supported and cared for in a setting that feels safe, relaxing, and connected to nature, with plenty of activities, quality care, and opportunities to stay involved if they want.
