    Beautiful campus and compassionate care

I live here and it's been the best decision - a beautiful, well-maintained campus with manicured grounds, spacious apartments with private baths, outstanding amenities (pool, gym, rehab, chapel) and nonstop activities. The food is superb (even fillet mignon nightly), dining service is excellent, and the staff are warm, genuine and deeply caring - compassionate through daily life and final days; on-site doctor and full continuum of care provide real peace of mind. It's active, veteran-friendly, and feels like home, though I've seen occasional staffing/retention issues in the nursing/Johnson Center and minor service hiccups; overall excellent value and highly recommended.

    About Falcons Landing

Falcons Landing sits in Sterling, Virginia, and has a reputation score of 4.5 from 13 reviews, attracting mostly military retirees, government employees, and people with ties to defense or homeland security, though others can be considered. This nonprofit community started in 1984 by retired Air Force officers runs as a life plan community-also called a continuing care retirement community or CCRC-so residents can move between independent living, assisted living, short-term rehab, skilled nursing, and memory care as their needs change, and the campus includes the Falcons Landing Military Retirement Community and a Hillside House for memory care. You'll find a mix of cottages, apartments, and terrace homes, with some single homes and some high-rise apartment buildings, and the living spaces have up-to-date kitchens, granite counters, open layouts, modern appliances, and some have private balconies and picturesque views.

Falcons Landing offers a wide range of health services with 24/7 nursing staff, medication management, rehabilitation, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and specialized dementia support, along with a health center, on-site medical clinic, and weekly housekeeping plus regular and emergency maintenance. The Johnson Center provides skilled nursing and rehab, while the Hillside House supports memory care in a modern, homelike setting. Security officers stay on campus at all times in this gated community. Residents get access to dining plans with three restaurants, take-out meals, nutritious options, and outdoor dining, with special attention to both home-style and chef-prepared meals.

There's easier living with campus-wide high-speed internet, basic cable, a no-charge business center, and a state-of-the-art fitness center that stays open day and night, with walking paths, courtyards, landscaped grounds, and outdoor seating, as well as a library, a beauty salon and barbershop, chapel services for all faiths, and a range of wellness programs and classes. Activities fill the calendar, with stage productions, movies, art projects, lectures, game nights, concerts, afternoon tea, happy hours, trips around the Washington area with transportation provided at no extra cost, and online virtual tours for new visitors. Residents also get guest rooms, private party rooms, and pet-friendly options, and all community activities are easy to reach by indoor walkways.

The community claims CARF accreditation for its healthcare services and is managed by a board made up of experienced volunteer leaders. The facility runs around the clock every day and is led by administrator Ashlee Bullock, and as a not-for-profit, Falcons Landing reinvests funds into the property to improve quality of life for all. Along with entrance and monthly fees for living accommodations, weekly cleaning and regular upkeep are included, and residents average about 84 years old based on past records. The grounds look well kept and designed for comfort, with inspiration from UVA's lawns and pavilions and updated interiors, and on the whole, Falcons Landing aims to offer a comfortable, active, and supportive environment for older adults-especially those with military or government backgrounds-but does consider others, depending on individual situations. Full details about the community, services, and virtual tours can be found at falconslanding.org.
