    Beautiful, caring community with amenities

I live here and love it - the food is excellent, staff are warm, professional and caring (they truly feel like family), and residents are friendly so the community feels lively and welcoming. The building is beautiful and well-kept with bright, spacious apartments and balconies, resort-style grounds, pool, fitness, salon, library, theater and lots of daily activities and lectures. The RN-led wellness center, on-site doctors, daily vitals and exceptional nursing give real peace of mind, and housekeeping/valet/maintenance-free living make life easy. The Bistro is lovely with espresso aroma, fresh flowers and fruit (though the coffee machine can be hit-or-miss). It's a wonderful, secure place I'd recommend - just be aware it's an upscale, higher-cost option that might not fit every budget.

    About Aljoya Thornton Place

Aljoya Thornton Place sits in Seattle's Thornton Creek area, putting residents close to shops, restaurants, theaters, and nature trails, so anyone living there can walk outside and find plenty to do. The place has a mix of independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled care, so people at different stages can get what they need without having to move away. There are 142 upscale residences, with sizes from 540 to 1,450 square feet, and choices like studios, one-bedroom, semi-private, and two-bedroom units, and there's a one-time buy-in fee of $200,000 plus different monthly fees depending on care needs, so costs change as needs change, with extra charges for high, medium, or low care and for a second person joining. The community's run by Era Living and has 32 licensed beds, with no Medicaid occupancy.

Residents find an active environment at Aljoya Thornton Place, with activities like art galas, lecture series, music performances, outings to the symphony or ballet, water aerobics, Tai Chi, fitness classes, men's group meetings, TED Talks viewings, book club, movies, language and art classes, as well as overnight trips and social events, so there's always something to do if anyone wants to join in. People who like gardening can pick berries in the community garden. For those who want to stay active, there's an invigorating saltwater pool, swimming pool, hot tub, and fitness classes, easy access to movement and exercise, and activity rooms with virtual golf, pool tables, and a card room. Residents can use Wi-Fi everywhere, and there's a chapel, indoor and outdoor social areas, a community garden, and a mentorship program for new arrivals.

For meals, everyone gets three chef-prepared options daily in a restaurant-style setting, and there are low-sodium and vegetarian choices, so no one has to cook unless they want to. Housekeeping and linen services come weekly, making chores easier, and life tends to be maintenance-free because of staff support. There are beautician and barber services on site, plus a spa, and both indoor and outdoor seating areas for people to relax or talk. Aljoya Thornton Place has a no-smoking policy for all indoor spaces, but it's pet-friendly, allowing most folks to bring their animals with them.

Healthcare support comes from nurses on staff around the clock and a registered nurse in the on-site wellness center, so help is always near in an emergency or when care plans change. The community offers both non-ambulatory care with lift transfers and diabetic support, and visiting professionals like nurses, therapists, podiatrists, and dentists provide more specialized services when needed. Residents who need help with basic activities can get personalized assistance, and there are memory care and hospice services, including aging in place, so people can stay as their health needs become greater. Speech, physical, and occupational therapy, help with incontinence if managed, and homecare support are all available, and respite care gives short-term help if someone needs a temporary stay.

Residents can pay through private pay, social security, veteran's benefits, or commercial insurance. There's resident parking and complimentary transportation for trips to appointments or outings with access to the busline as well. The community accepts both men and women and is fully accessible for those using wheelchairs, with walk-in showers and full tubs. The environment feels like a village with contemporary features, offering both privacy and ways to connect. There's even unique amenities like Lilly's at Aljoya, The Bistro at Aljoya, and Ostrow, Jonathan, though details about these names come directly from their own materials, and residents often find these little touches add to daily life. Aljoya Thornton Place supports a vibrant and social lifestyle for older adults, letting them find comfort, community, and care as their needs change over time.
