    About Olin Hotel Apartments

Olin Hotel Apartments stands on Logan Street in Denver's Capitol Hill, sitting just a half block from Colfax Avenue with a good view of the State Capitol, and it has a long history, first built in 1890 as The Vallejo family hotel and later serving as one of Denver's luxury hotels in 1925 with Spanish-style and southwest style architecture, big dining rooms, and old hotel charm. These days, the building offers affordable senior apartments for older adults and disabled individuals, with 106 units now-some studios and some one-bedrooms-and renovations planned to bump the number up to 112 units, with a mix of efficiency and one-bedroom layouts, and most units have been updated over the years with new appliances like stoves, refrigerators, and counters, while the windows are modern, too, after a big project replaced and installed 323 new windows using Liquid Crystal Film, tempered glass, obscured glass, different Low Ē glass types, and several well-known window brands like Smart Tech Casements and others, so you get good light and comfort but still keep some privacy. The rent is affordable with income limits, run as a HUD housing community, so residents need to qualify based on income, and there are subsidies available for those who meet requirements, and the management, led by Sherry Wolf, helps people with applications and tours, and they've got a team onsite for maintenance and security, including a 24-hour security presence in the lobby and controlled access for safety, plus on each side of the big U-shaped building there's an elevator to make getting around easier. The apartments are pet friendly, and residents handle their own laundry in self-serve laundry facilities, and life there leans independent, with no extra care services provided but with retirement and independent living, and the staff keeps the building updated, including a top floor renovation in 2022 and plans for more upgrades to units and common areas. Social spaces include a large dining area, a big community room with high ceilings that some say looks like a ballroom, a game room with a pool table and large TV, and a central kitchen that's often used for parties and special events. There's a big, landscaped courtyard with gardens, new trees, and places to sit, where people can gather, plant flowers, or just watch the Capitol, and the area outside makes it easy to get to public transportation, grocery stores, restaurants, churches, and libraries, so folks living at Olin Hotel Apartments have a lot close by and don't feel shut off from the rest of the city. The building was purchased in 1980 by Ecumenical Housing Corporation, now Senior Housing Options, and they've worked over the years to improve it while keeping the original charm, so the entrance and lobby still give a hint of the old hotel flavor, and many apartments come with charming windows and Capitol views that remind folks of the history. Olin Hotel Apartments is one of Denver's long-standing senior communities, known for being simple, comfortable, and focused on affordable, independent living.
