    Resort-like, secure, welcoming 55+ community

I'm a long-term resident and feel truly blessed to call this place home. The staff and maintenance crew are outstanding, the building and grounds are impeccably kept and secure (fence/gate with transponder), and management is responsive. Amenities feel resort-like-heated pool and hot tub, gym, library, game/puzzle rooms, salon, free breakfast options, and roomy apartments with full kitchens-and it's pet-friendly. There's a strong sense of community with lots of activities and friendly neighbors (we all miss potluck nights and hope group events fully return after the pandemic). It's 55+ independent living only (not assisted), with limited on-site meals, and the complex can feel large and crowded; pricing can be high for some. Overall I love living here and would recommend it to others.

    About Villa Grande on Saxon

Villa Grande on Saxon sits in Orange City, Florida, a spot that's about halfway between Orlando and Daytona Beach, and the place really is set up for people aged 62 and over who want apartments without worrying about home repairs or yard work anymore, you know, just somewhere easy and pleasant to live. Residents can pick from one- or two-bedroom apartments, all with open living and dining areas, full kitchens with islands and bar space, modern touches like microwaves, dishwashers, refrigerators, crown molding, and black appliances, plus a washer and dryer right in the apartment, which means nobody has to drag laundry around. The apartments feel roomy, have large windows for sunlight, walk-in closets, private balconies or screened patios, and even extra storage with air conditioning, and bathrooms have wood cabinets, white counters, and big mirrors, while bedrooms come with warm walls, cozy beds, wooden furniture, and a pretty tropical style, which a lot of folks find cheerful.

The whole place is put together nicely, with colorful buildings around a pond with a fountain out front and the landscaping kept tidy so people can enjoy walking around or sitting outside. There's a clubhouse that's about 11,000 square feet and the folks there have put a lot into it, with a fireside lounge with a fireplace and aquarium, TVs, seating, and places to socialize or relax alone, plus a grand piano in the lobby and decorative tile flooring. For those who like to stay active, there's a fitness center, a big outdoor pool and spa area, shuffleboard, and game nights, while organized activities and daily events give everyone a chance to get out for outings to the theater, ballgames, or other community events, which are real nice changes of pace.

The whole idea is to make life easier without extra bills or the big up-front fees you see at some places, because here you pay rent, you don't buy in, and the staff takes care of maintenance, which leaves time for exercise classes, hobbies, or making friends at club gatherings. There are also pet-friendly units if you want to bring a small animal along, and the apartments offer handicap-accessible features for those who need it. The wellness program focuses on keeping the mind, body, and spirit strong, and the community tries to be inclusive, offering services from independent living to help with things like bathing, dressing, and managing medicine, plus options for memory care, rehab, and adult day care right there so folks don't have to move if their needs change. Residents don't have to take care of chores like trash, either, with things like trash chutes and easy laundry right in the building. The staff tries to organize things so people can meet up, learn or practice hobbies, and feel like they belong, making it a pretty friendly place to settle in for retirement.
