    About Columbia Heritage

Columbia Heritage sits on the former Perry Homes public housing site and has a deep connection to Atlanta's history, even with ties to Dorothy Bolden and well-known musicians, and right now it's going through a fourteen-month renovation to modernize the 131-unit mixed-income community for people 62 years or older. The two-bedroom apartment homes have full kitchens, air conditioning, and safety features, and handicap-accessible options like ground-floor units and wheelchair-accessible showers, which makes it easier for folks who need them. The place has a lot going on-there are activity rooms like a movie theater, game room, arts and crafts area, and even a fitness center, a baby grand piano, a ballroom, and indoor libraries, so residents can fill their time with whatever suits them, and outside there's a gazebo, patios, a park with a wooden playground, walking paths, picnic spots, and a lake with nice landscaping to enjoy the fresh air.

The apartments and common areas serve seniors seeking both privacy and chances to socialize, and you can get more help when you need it: care management, clinical services, therapy, rehabilitation, and even tele-health for remote monitoring happen here, so residents with mild to complex needs, including memory care and assisted living, can get support on-site. On top of their easygoing apartments, the staff provides transportation, regular activity programs, and a food program through CACFP, with staff ready to help with daily tasks when needed, and those who want to simply live independently can choose that too. Family engagement is important here, and systems like electronic visit verification and customer relationship management aim to keep things organized, so contact with families is regular and easy, with staff always trained to respond with compassion and dignity in mind.

Columbia Heritage partners with My Senior Care Hub, My Adult Behavior, My Adult Foster Care, and My Adult Home Care, which means residents can benefit from a range of services, including home care and specialized attention for physical or mental health conditions. Residents can join off-site and on-site activities, gardening, BBQs, or birthday parties, or just take it easy in quiet corners indoors or out. Columbia Heritage got funding from the Urban Residential Finance Authority of Atlanta and support from Truist Community Capital, so rent stays affordable for qualifying seniors, particularly in the 124 AH-assisted HomeFlex units. The whole property operates on a long ground lease, but the focus is anchored in upgrading comfort and safety without higher rent, and the goal is to give seniors and disabled residents a home where they can enjoy a higher standard of living at a cost many can manage.
