Elk River Senior, also known as Elk River Apartments, sits on top of a hill in a quiet, wooded area of Georgetown, Kentucky, where Elkhorn Creek and nearby wildlife add to the peacefulness of the place, and you'll find a range of senior living options for both active seniors and those needing some daily help. The facility offers assisted living for folks who need support with bathing, dressing, or remembering medication, and there's memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, with extra steps to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The senior apartments here are well-kept, with accessible layouts and simple, no-frills designs for people who enjoy living on their own but want to have a helping hand nearby if needed, and there are studio room layouts, elevators for easy access, porch areas, and both indoor and outdoor spots to relax, all designed with independence and safety in mind. The place feels small and home-like, and people eat together family-style in common dining rooms that also give a spot to make friends and chat, while outdoor common areas let folks walk, sit, or watch some wildlife without much noise from the outside world. There are both indoor and outdoor common areas, so folks have plenty of options to gather, relax, or take part in activities, with spiritual and social programs offered on-site that support well-being, all planned by friendly, fully-trained staff who pay attention to each person's needs. The apartments and homes welcome adults aged 55 and over, and are pet-friendly with cats and dogs allowed up to about 16 or 20 pounds, and there's also parking for residents and transportation services for errands, appointments, or social outings. For people who only need care for a little while, Elk River Senior provides respite care, and there's hospice care available too, with personal care and meals provided for anyone needing extra support, and wheelchair accessible showers to make things safer for folks with mobility challenges. The property accepts both men and women as residents and has strong protections against discrimination, following federal laws for gender identity and orientation in housing. The facility also gives out information related to the weather, neighborhood crime, local health services, and parks, which helps families feel at ease knowing what kind of place their loved ones are living in. Nutritious meals are planned by chefs and meal planners, and there's a barber and beauty service on-site, so people can take care of themselves without leaving home. Seniors who are eligible for VA benefits, like Aid and Attendance, can get help using those benefits here, which is important for veterans and spouses who want to pay for care. The facility's known for its friendly staff and has won awards like Best of Senior Living and All Star for care and services, and the staff here focus on making everyday life comfortable, safe, and social, whether someone's in assisted living, memory care, or living independently. There are flexible housing options with studios, apartments, and some single-family homes, plus extras like air conditioning, washers and dryers, patios, a pool, a hot tub or spa, barbecue areas, waterfront views, and a fitness center, depending on the specific rental chosen. Walking around, you'll notice things stay clean and tidy, there's always someone nearby who can help if you need something, and there's a steady schedule of social events, devotional services, and outings giving everyone a chance to stay active, make friends, and enjoy a high quality of life while aging in place.
Great location, awful management, delays
I live in a roomy, convenient apartment with a porch, elevator and quiet, friendly neighbors-and I like the location and not having to go outside for mail. But management (the company) is poor and often not onsite, common areas are filthy (dog urine, dead bugs, cobwebs, overflowing dumpsters, overgrown lawn) and non-emergency maintenance is painfully slow-A/C out for over two years, fixtures and repairs taking weeks to months. The on-site manager and some maintenance staff are helpful, but overall the prolonged delays and bad management make it hard to recommend.
