Windsor Crossing Senior Community sits in the lively Suitland neighborhood right off Silver Hill Road, and it's close to the Metro, which makes getting around pretty simple if you don't drive, especially since there's no on-site parking but residents can use parking lots nearby and public transportation's easy to reach. The apartments come in one- or two-bedroom layouts for adults 62 and over, with all utilities included, and you'll find handy features like air conditioning, carpeting, washers and dryers or hook-ups, dishwashers, full kitchens with refrigerators, and even furniture rental through CORT if you need it. There's a pet policy that allows cats and dogs under 25 pounds with certain breed restrictions, though at times some listings say no pets, so it's best to check on the current rules. Windsor Crossing runs as an affordable senior housing option with a tax credit program, so rent's easier on the budget if your household income is at least three times the rent before taxes but still below the area median, and there's a $22 application fee per person plus a $300 security deposit. Folks in the community really seem to appreciate the staff, who many call both fantastic and accommodating, and the whole place gets points for being clean, with an engaging environment backed up by resident reviews. Activities are tailored for social distancing and include movie nights in their own theater room, social events in the big community room with a kitchenette, fitness classes in the on-site gym, games in the billiards room, computer access in the business center, and time spent outside on the sun-filled patio or even in the greenhouse. The community has features like controlled entry for safety, a swimming pool, a BBQ and seated garden patio, laundry centers, and offers floor plans meant for different needs. Windsor Crossing also supports independent living and has assisted living services to help seniors stay comfortable and independent, with senior care designed for those aged 62 and above. You can apply online, use their Resident and Applicant Login portals for info or rent payment, and there's an eBrochure that offers answers to common questions, especially around income rules. Tours are available, so prospective residents can see the spaces, talk with staff, and meet other residents to really get a feel for daily life. The management, including teams from Ross Management Services and at times Humphrey Management, keep things running smoothly. There's a strong sense of community here, with group activities and common areas like the movie theater, clubhouse, fitness room, and even a media room for gatherings. The goal is to give seniors both independence and comfort, and the location in Suitland keeps things vibrant, surrounded by parks, attractions, and enough social events to help everyone stay connected.

Great amenities but cleanliness slipping
I toured the community and liked the amenities - pool, theater, gym, library, hospitality suite - plus nice grounds and spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments with side parking. Staff were friendly, but cleanliness was inconsistent and the showroom felt staged compared with the actual unit; they also quoted $900, which was $200 below the listed price (odd). You have to cook your own meals, though delivery nearby is affordable, and the hospitality suite for short stays is a nice perk - overall satisfied but feel the place may be slipping.
