Jamestown Commons sits as a residential apartment community built in 2000 and offers 264 units with options for one, two, or three bedrooms and one to two bathrooms, and these apartments usually range from 811 to 1,054 square feet which is comfortable enough for most folks wanting their own space and a bit of breathing room, and many apartments have private patios or balconies-sometimes overlooking water features or green spaces-while others might enjoy views of the rose garden, and the grounds offer walking trails, shuffleboard courts, picnic and grill areas, and landscaped gardens, but more than the greenery, there's a fitness center, a resident garden, and a game room for people who like staying active without heading far from home, and you'll find a residents lounge along with daily social events organized by a full-time Activities Director who works to make sure there are things going on every day for those interested in joining in with neighbors, and you can bring cats or dogs within set weight limits since this is a pet-friendly community, and folks who need a little extra help can look into assisted living, memory care, in-home senior care, or hospice care that are available depending on your personal situation, and there's independent living, too, for seniors wanting to come and go as they please and enjoy a pretty tranquil place, and assigned parking makes it easier to come and go, plus there's internet access available nearby if you need it, and for those with mobility needs the spaces are designed to be handicap friendly, and you'll find features inside like emergency call systems, washer/dryer connections, air conditioning, dishwashers, and walk-in closets which keep things practical, and applications require ID, Social Security card, proof of income, bank statements, and usually a small, non-refundable fee payable by money order, and sometimes you'll need to sign for a background and credit check, and with the community van, transportation to nearby spots goes smoothly, while security features include controlled access entry, interior hallways, and a dedicated mail room, and rent is set according to income under the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program which aims to keep housing affordable for seniors on a limited income, and there's also fair housing and equal opportunity policies in place so everyone has a fair shot and is treated with respect, and property management is on site during the week to keep things running as they should, and meals get prepared using quality ingredients as part of the focus on good, nutritious eating which helps residents stay healthy and enjoy their days, and the community's design and services lean toward providing a safe, home-based environment that tries to balance privacy, affordability, activities, and resident support.

Social community but unsafe, unresponsive
I have mixed feelings. I loved the activities, informative speakers, social events and many helpful staff - the place felt home-like and I made friends. But persistent security/access failures (malfunctioning doors, fob that won't secure the entry, parts "on order," no emergency button), slow or unaddressed maintenance (filthy halls and carpets, flooded patio, laundry issues), cigarette/insecticide odors and sanitation/rodent concerns, rude front office and unresolved billing/refund problems, frequent staff turnover and mobility/access issues were dealbreakers. Not a bad community for social life, but the cleanliness, safety and management responsiveness drove me to plan moving out.
