Arrowhead Gardens in Seattle is a senior apartment community for ages 61 and up, or 55 and older for those with disabilities, located at 9200 2nd Ave SW in the Highland Park neighborhood, and folks there say the staff show a lot of kindness and joy, always willing to help out, which makes the atmosphere friendly and comfortable, and you'll see a good number of planned social activities going on that help residents stay engaged mentally and physically with things like crafts, day trips, gardening with P-Patch planters, and games in the clubhouse or game room, plus people say the meals are nutritious and made with good ingredients. The community allows both dogs and cats, but only up to two small dogs and two cats per apartment, and big dogs aren't allowed, though there are pet parks and fountains outside, and you'll find beautiful landscaped courtyards, gardens, patios, and even decks and a rooftop deck where you can relax or garden if you want some fresh air. Transportation's not a big worry since there's parking for residents, access to the bus route and the Myers Way Park and Ride, plus a community van and an electric car for folks who need to get around, and there's reserved garage parking too. Apartments come in one- or two-bedroom layouts, and you'll find some with private patios, balconies, big windows with lovely views, and features like washer and dryer hookups, dishwashers, energy-efficient appliances, and big closets with organizers, along with wall-to-wall carpeting in the living spaces and tile in other spots, plus the building keeps things accessible with elevators, wheelchair-accessible showers and bathtubs, and accessible apartments. The place is smoke-free, has electronic access control for security, and on-site management if anything comes up, and they handle garbage, water, and sewer as part of the rent, which also requires a deposit and application fee, with some income restrictions in place and specific terms allowing protections for LGBTQ folks and all sources of income. Healthcare doesn't have a lot of detail except for medication management, but it's mainly set up as an independent, maintenance-free setting where folks can enjoy common laundry rooms, a business center, a fitness room, a social room with a TV or media setup for movies or sports, spots to play cards or share recipes, and amenities like a craft room, billiards room, and plenty of lounge areas for relaxing. The Arrowhead Community Building serves as a hub for gatherings, and the community's close to parks, open spaces, golf courses, and plenty of public transportation, so folks don't have to be far from city amenities, storage, or moving help. Leasing specialists are around to answer questions about availability, and there's a focus on making things carefree, sociable, and affordable for seniors who want to stay active, with decades of experience in the Puget Sound region, so Arrowhead Gardens is really about giving folks the chance to live in a community where connection, ease, and simple comforts take priority.
Clean active community good value
I live here and overall I'm happy: the complex is clean, contemporary, and very well kept with beautiful landscaping, courtyards and rooftop gardens. Staff are friendly and professional - my tour guide was fabulous - and there are lots of daily activities and organized outings. Transportation is excellent (onsite van/shuttle for groceries and errands). Units are compact but well designed with in-unit kitchens, optional washer/dryer, balconies and accessible showers; I pay about $1,300 and think it's good value. Downsides: parking is limited, cable billing was confusing for me, it's not very walkable and the nearby street can feel unsafe. Overall a tidy, active place with many amenities.
