SHAG's New Haven Apartments at 13000 Linden Ave N in Seattle, Washington, offers senior apartments for people who want to live actively and independently, and when you walk in, it's clear that the place values a balance of freedom, safety, and friendly community, and with a dedicated leasing and management team onsite, there's good help around for any questions or maintenance needs, plus they keep the building secure with access control, so residents feel comfortable coming and going. The apartments are income-restricted, which means you need to qualify under certain income rules, including 100% income-restricted units for those who are 55 or older, or 55+ with a disability, and the process for moving in requires resident screening and paperwork to check eligibility, but the leasing folks can help with that and right now there's no waiting list to join. The apartments have one- and two-bedroom layouts, ranging from about 450 to 888 square feet, with energy-efficient appliances, full-size tubs in the bathrooms, and nice views in many of the units, which comes in handy if you like relaxing at home and enjoying the courtyard or garden scenery, and for those who want to be outside, there are P-patch planters, landscaped courtyards, a barbecue area, decks, and spots for gardening. Indoors, there's a business center, a clubhouse, a game room, a fitness area, a library, a TV lounge, and a big social room with a TV for movie nights or sports, and there are plenty of common rooms for crafts, games, or just visiting, and you can even use the community room for gatherings with family or friends if you want a bigger space. The community offers a van for free transportation to grocery stores, social trips, and outings, which is helpful if you don't drive anymore, and the pedestrian-friendly neighborhood has shopping and restaurants nearby for day-to-day needs. You'll see they allow pets like dogs and cats, which some people find comforting, and maintenance requests or rent payments can be handled online, making things simpler. Staff here have a reputation for being friendly and helpful, and the community runs a calendar full of social activities, games, day trips, and other programs, plus the social care platform connects residents to support if needed, and folks needing more care-whether for physical, mental health, or memory issues-can access assisted living, home care, or memory care services, all provided with attention to dignity and independence. Residents have access to nutritious meals planned by chefs, and the efforts of the staff have led to awards like 'Best of Senior Living' and 'Best Activities.' The focus at SHAG's New Haven Apartments stays on comfortable, affordable living for seniors, letting people stay active, connected, and at ease as they age, and new residents moving in can sometimes get a special like one month free rent, depending on the unit.

Clean welcoming facility, caring staff
I stayed briefly and so far I like it. The facility is clean, well-kept and secure with a homey dining area, nice sundeck, reading room and theater - gym and barber are on the same block. Staff (Ruth and Olga especially) are kind, knowledgeable and respectful, call me by name, help with paperwork and give personalized attention; maintenance is quick. Management supports employees and events are well-planned and engaging (cards, singing, dancing, bingo, puzzles, day trips). Reasonably priced and overall a very good, welcoming place.
