Compassionate care, later staffing decline
I placed my mom in the memory-care community and was impressed at first - compassionate, knowledgeable staff, excellent clinical care, strong communication, safe COVID practices, a colorful homelike facility with lovely courtyards and an active activities program that gave us real peace of mind. Staff treated residents like family and my mom enjoyed events and outings. Unfortunately staffing and training declined over time: caregivers became inexperienced/short-staffed, cleaning slipped (we even found ants), rooms were tight for a Hoyer lift, and we ultimately moved her because of those issues. Overall great programming and caring people when staffed properly, but inconsistent staffing/cleanliness are dealbreakers for me.
