About The Village of St. James

The Village of St. James sits southwest of where Buena Vista Boulevard meets St. Charles Place, looping around in two spots, and you'll find about 5,193 home sites spread across 1,098 acres, which covers several neighborhoods like Bridgeport at Creekside and Buttonwood along with St. James itself, and you'll see work on new homes and infrastructure still going on since it's the last village going up north of 466A. The community has an age restriction, where at least 80% of homes need someone age 55 or older living inside, and no one under 19 is allowed to live there full time except in special family areas, and an architectural review committee made up of residents helps make decisions about how homes look or get changed. For recreation, people have access to multiple golf courses, like the Yankee Clipper Executive Course, plus pools, dog parks, nature trails, and sports fields, and there's the SeaBreeze Recreation Center where monthly meetings are usually held the third Friday afternoons. St. James offers many clubs and activities, such as socials, Fit Club, softball leagues, fishing trips, Senior Games, and events like Running of the Squares, with educational programs at The Enrichment Academy, and a calendar full of entertainment and classes. Residents have a residential directory they can update, a phone book, obituary listings, and access to a subscriber portal with video guides, while community boards and the Community Development District 8 Board of Supervisors manage local issues and hold meetings. There are lots of services for daily life, including customer service, ID cards, property maintenance, landscaping, community watch, irrigation and sprinkler systems, plus water and sanitation help, bulk pick-up, and ways to report problems or look up irrigation schedules. Public safety, emergency management, and district government services handle things like budgets, purchasing, and risk management, and you can hear local news on WVLG radio and VNN. The Village puts out free brochures, lets people book lifestyle stays, and has information on affordable living and regulations. You'll see special contests like the Dog Days of Summer Photo Contest, as well as updates on community happenings, city contacts, education, health and fitness, local golf, parks and maps, weather, movie theaters, and Florida public notices. Homes are arranged in several new neighborhoods and offer a variety of types, all designed for comfort and support, with oversight from community boards to keep things running smoothly and amenities up to date, and residents can use clubs, submit ideas for resident groups, or join in on regular park and recreation programs that welcome both newcomers and long-timers.
