About Island Health And Rehabilitation Center

Island Health and Rehabilitation Center sits in Merritt Island, Florida, and belongs to the Consulate Health Care family, which is a group of care communities, and folks know it as a place to get better and a place for living, because they've fixed things up recently to make it easier to move around and more comfortable overall, and you'll find private rooms and semi-private rooms, with space for couples if they both want to stay, all within a 120-bed skilled nursing center that welcomes people for short stays or long-term care, and you can expect a team of skilled healthcare professionals working on everything from rehabilitation, assisted living, to Alzheimer's care, and there's always someone around, because nursing support runs between 12 to 16 hours a day, plus a 24-hour call system in every room for emergencies. You'll find specialized care, too, with a certified wound and ostomy nurse, a certified lymphedema therapist, and an experienced staff who handle things like wound care, stroke rehab, pulmonary care, pain management, orthopedics, diabetic care, COPD, cardiac care, and even higher-needs cases that require wound vacs, Lifevests, trach care, or IV antibiotic therapy, and they can supply up to 10 liters of oxygen when needed. Residents get help with medication management, bathing, dressing, and daily living, and they even have a certified MDS CP Coordinator named Heidi Williams plus a healthcare professional called Angela Davis, and for maintenance and facility issues, there's Anthony Sartori as plant operations director, all overseen by owner Adreia McCoy. There are furnished rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, kitchenettes, cable TV, telephones, and Wi-Fi, and families don't have to worry about housekeeping or laundry because the staff handles that, plus they coordinate moves and offer family support when a loved one moves in. People use both Medicare and Medicaid here, and currently there are 13 certified beds, with plans for 20 beds to be available by June 2025. You're part of a busy community, whether eating restaurant-style meals prepared by a professional chef, picking special diets for allergies or diabetes, or enjoying all-day dining, and there are always community activities, resident-run clubs, movie nights, arts programs, and outings to the garden areas or along the outdoor paths. Folks have access to fitness and wellness rooms, libraries, social and recreational rooms, game rooms, activity rooms, and good outdoor spaces, so there's always something to do-sometimes it's just walking or gardening-and the place tries to keep itself lively with these community-sponsored and special events. There's a resident and family council, so people can bring up concerns or ideas to improve life at the center, and people in the local community often say the care here is solid, with a special focus on recovery, social support, and taking a holistic look at how people heal and live. It's a for-profit place with a small company size, and for more information, they keep up a website at http://www.islandhomeparkhealthandrehab.com/, and all those services together mean Island Health and Rehabilitation Center works to help people recover, stay comfortable, and feel at home no matter how long they're there.
