Memorial Manor Nursing Home stands as a vital part of the Bainbridge, Georgia community, offering comprehensive long-term care services for area residents. Established in 1972, the nursing home was created after the closure of Fidelis Nursing Home, marking a significant evolution in the provision of elder care in the region. The assets from the former Fidelis Nursing Home were transferred to the Hospital Authority, which allowed for the construction of Memorial Manor adjacent to Memorial Hospital. Since its inception, the Manor has focused on providing quality living environments and medical oversight for its residents, guided by a dedicated management and clinical team.
When Memorial Manor first opened, it did so under the direction and leadership of Herbert Nussbaum, Chairman of the Hospital Authority, with Houston Wisener as Administrator. The care team was anchored by Loreta Coggins Brown, serving as Supervising Nurse for the Manor, and Mrs. Irene Toole, who held the position of Director of Nurses for both the Hospital and Memorial Manor. This strong foundation helped shape Memorial Manor into a nurturing and well-organized environment where resident health and well-being are priorities.
Originally, Memorial Manor offered a 67-bed capacity, ensuring a close-knit, community-like atmosphere where every resident could receive individual attention and care. In 1979, to meet the growing needs of the community, an addition was built to provide 40 more beds, expanding the total capacity to 107 beds. This expansion allowed Memorial Manor to serve more families while maintaining its commitment to personalized care.
Today, Memorial Manor Nursing Home continues to uphold its mission of compassionate, professional service. The home is currently administered by Dr. Andrea Ferguson, RN, DNP, NHA, whose background in both nursing and healthcare administration provides a strong clinical and organizational framework for operations. Resident care is coordinated by Director of Nursing Wanda Green, RN, ensuring that each individual receives high-quality medical and personal attention. Additional support comes from personnel like Paula Parris, who manages Social Services and Admissions, Rosanna Jackson in the Business Office, and Brittany McCoy, who oversees activities and enrichment programs for residents. Together, these professionals contribute to a warm, engaging, and secure environment where residents can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially, making Memorial Manor Nursing Home a trusted choice for families seeking care for their loved ones.
