    Terrible administration, shabby facility, unsafe

I lived here and would not recommend. The administrator was terrible and many staff were unprofessional, argumentative, or overwhelmed, though nurses and some CNAs were caring and attentive and the receptionist was helpful. The building felt old, institutional and shabby (small wards, multi-bed rooms common, few decorations); the memory care was better. Meals were poor - hotdogs several times a week - and therapy was delayed or never happened. Plumbing and clogged toilets were recurring problems, activities were sparse so residents sat in hallways, and a staff mistake even caused me a bulging disc. Positives: easy parking, takes Medicaid, diverse residents, and some attentive staff.

    About Grove Of Elmhurst

Grove Of Elmhurst sits as a retirement community that provides a mix of care, from independent living to assisted living, memory care, continuing care, nursing homes, home care, respite care, and care homes. The staff there can be found helping with specialized care including memory care, short-term rehab, orthopedic rehab, ventilator care, wound care, and skilled nursing. People coming for rehabilitation after being in the hospital will find advanced therapy programs and personalized care plans, with nurses, respiratory therapists, and pulmonologists always available, day and night. There's a certified memory care unit for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, which keeps things secure and provides support at all hours. Grove Of Elmhurst has an in-house dialysis unit, including peritoneal dialysis, and special attention for cardiac programming like LVAD management.

Visitors will see themed community spaces set up for seniors, along with comfortable amenities you can check out on a scheduled tour, even meeting residents and staff while you're there. The place offers a multidisciplinary approach, with teams working together to create specialized plans meant to keep or improve mobility, independence, and daily living. Families and residents can look at resources, maps, and guides during tours, and the staff is available to answer questions or show visitors around. The facility uses a set of terms and policies, including agreements to be contacted, terms of use, and a privacy policy, all of which visitors can read about.

In addition to care, people living here can learn about Elmhurst's parks, recreation, public art and memorials like the Millennium Fountain, Bicentennial Fountain, Sesquicentennial Clock, several veterans' monuments, and nearby places to go such as Wilder Park Conservatory, Sugar Creek Golf Course, and East End Pool. Grove Of Elmhurst has resources for local organizations, trolleys, spaces for events, and a news blog along with special offers. There's a focus on making things tranquil and comfortable for those recovering from surgery or illness and for those needing round-the-clock care, with a team dedicated to rehabilitation and quality of life, relying on clear, practical supports rather than any glitzy feel.
