    Caring staff, pervasive institutional neglect

I experienced both genuinely caring people and alarming systemic neglect. Pat, Cici, Michael and Dimas were proactive, friendly and helpful, but overall the nursing care felt like a nightmare: residents left unattended or insulted, staff on phones ignoring calls, unsafe staff conduct, poor cleanliness and foul urine odor, bad food, and hard-to-reach administration. After a post-op infection, transfer injuries and unhelpful communication, I'm planning to move my loved one and am considering a state complaint.

    About Grove Of Lagrange Park

Grove Of Lagrange Park sits in La Grange Park, Illinois, in zip code 60526, located among nearby cities like Westchester, Brookfield, La Grange, Riverside, and Hillside, as well as neighborhoods such as Yorkfield and Garfield Ridge, so folks have a sense of community and familiarity even though the building itself was put up back in 1976. The area's got a bike score of 51 and a walk score of 69, meaning it's somewhat walkable, and people might ride bikes around if they're up for it, but neither is exactly easy for everybody. The facility itself is built for care, not flash, and is set up to provide specialized rehabilitation and healthcare services, including memory care, short-term rehab, orthopedic and cardiac rehabilitation, and advanced services like peritoneal dialysis, expert ventilator care, and even an in-house dialysis unit, so folks don't have to travel for these needs. The rehabilitation here covers a lot, from physical, occupational, and speech therapy to post-hospital care, with a focus on helping people recover from surgery or major health setbacks, and the team uses the latest techniques and protocols. There's a friendly group of nurses, CNAs, and a whole rehab department with therapists named Selena, Dorton, Corey, Azela, and Monique, each committed to personalized care, plus a social worker named Shekoni who helps during stays and discharge, while dietary needs are watched over by Liz, and activities are handled by Tani and her assistants Johanna, Melissa, and Jada, so there's always something going on if folks want to join in. The place is known for its multidisciplinary approach, offering wound care with treatments like E-Stim, ultrasound, negative pressure, and on-site certified wound care nurses, making it handy for those who need more advanced recovery support. Residents stay in comfortable suites set up for rest and healing, and you'll see an experienced environmental staff working hard to keep things clean and safe, especially during flu season when you'll notice masks and other precautions around. Meals are not just safe but also are well-prepared and tasty, and the whole setup leans into comfort and personalized care, aiming to restore mobility, strength, and independence in a calm, suburban environment. The amenities have a hotel-like feel but prioritize function and comfort in a setting designed for peace and recovery, which a lot of folks appreciate, and with comprehensive recovery support and behavioral health services included, it's clear this isn't a one-size-fits-all place-everybody gets a plan suited to their needs.
