    About Home Of The Innocents

Home Of The Innocents sits on a large campus and provides many services for children and young adults who need help, and you'll notice it's not laid out like your typical facility because it handles a wide range of serious needs for kids, so there's the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center with 76 beds for children who have complex medical needs and can't be cared for at home, and then there's emergency shelter space for children who got removed from abusive or neglectful situations. The staff covers round-the-clock nursing, counseling, and support, making sure every kid gets their medication and care, and it's organized so children can stay as long as needed, sometimes up to age 21, especially if they have physical or developmental disabilities. You'll see programs set up to help children with mental and behavioral health problems, plus foster care and adoption services guided by case workers who walk families through every step, and there's even therapeutic foster care and parenting support that's free and based on what experts recommend. The place focuses on making sure every child keeps learning and can join community events, so even kids with autism or emotional challenges get school help both on campus and in homes. They have day treatment, residential treatment, and crisis help, and there's clinical staff that sees to each child's specific needs, because no two children are the same, and some are there long-term while others get short-term safety. The staff works closely with families, aiming to build strong partnerships, offering parent education and safe custody exchange when needed, all guided by a mission to support children and families in Kentucky and beyond since 1880. There's always something going on, from big annual events and special celebrations to small daily activities designed to brighten kids' lives, and with each program-be it foster care, community services, or emergency shelter-the focus is on hope, health, and a safe place to stay. The Home Of The Innocents partners with schools and has many helpers to make sure nothing falls through the cracks, offering structure, meals, learning, fun, and the basics every child really needs, and the people who work there choose to do this kind of job for the mission, not for the glory.
